As with all T-mobile offers, test it out yourself online by login in and test checkout. No one know for sure if it works for your account since plans have hundreds of SOCs and some SOCs are excluded. If the promotion applies online through your account, then it should work through other retail channels like Costco or phone.

OFFER ID R261 Smartphone Trade ID250462
1) Have or switch to a qualifying rate plan. Already a T-Mobile customer and not sure what plan you are on? Check here to see your current plan.
2) Purchase a new Google Pixel 10 128 GB on a monthly payment plan and pay the applicable sales tax on the pre-credit price at time of purchase; plus $35 device connection charge.
3) Trade in an eligible device in good condition:

For most of us, all we need to do is to upgrade a line and trade-in. This includes us on $10 or less lines. Again, test it out yourself online through your account.

1) Phone is locked to T-mobile until EIP is fully paid and 40 days of usage on a line. Your monthly device payments is net $0 because the RDC cancels out the EIP, if you qualified for R261. You will lose RDC if you pay off EIP early, so T-mobile basically locks you in for 2 years.
2) EIP financing is over 24 months. Reddit rumors are T-mobile is planning to move to 36 months, so get this while you can.
3) You can request short term temp unlocks a couple times a year for travel. If you do this then try to sell the phone as unlocked, you are scum.
4) You will be charged sales tax on full device value at checkout.
5) Multiple EIPs with unique promotions can be stacked on a single line, up to your financing limit of your account. This can be done online or in person (system automates it, but a rep may push back on it). So if you already have a line with another EIP with a different RDC promotion, you can stack R261 on it. But don't recommend stacking multiple R261 on a single line, that may cause problems.
6) Samsung S10's can be purchased through ebay for little over $100. Some sellers even sell qualified T-mobile S10 trade-ins for ~$120. Prices will go up as demand goes up.
7) Trade-ins just need to be in good condition and not be stolen / blacklisted. The specific criteria is in the online trade-in checker. Carrier locked is okay; stolen / password / blacklisted / google / apple locked will be rejected.
8) Costco is the best retail channel if you are a member. No $35 DCC fee, $100 costco giftcard for upgrading (limit 1 per line per year), and 90 days return policy vs 15 days everywhere else. Phone will be shipped to you from T-mobile.
9) You are strongly recommended to complete your trade-in at a T-mobile store (ideally, an Experience store). Trade-in is completed immediately, and once completed you are done. No waiting for shipping, no lost / damaged in shipping, no lost promotion due to failed evaulation.

So many comments and questions.

If you have a Costco membership, DEFINITELY work this deal by calling the T-Mobile Costco number: 833-428-1765
You will save the $35 activation/connection fee + get a Costco Cash card. I have done the upgrade through this number 5 times and they've been gone through smoothly all 5 times. I got $630 total in monthly credits on an iPhone 16 Pro Max purchase, 3 Motorola Edge 2024s (by trading in older phones that I got for free), and $500 total in monthly credits for a Motorola Razr 2024. I shipped all the trade-in phones back. They are confirmed as received within 2 days of the tracking number showing "delivered".

Pro tip: Take a video of the phone you're shipping for trade-in. Showing that it powers up, and navigate to the IMEI screen to prove it has the same IMEI as what's you gave them over the phone. Once T-Mobile sends you the text that they received your trade-in, you can delete the video.

If you have a Pixel 8 or above, you should be buying a Samsung Galaxy S10 or S10e (around $100-125 on eBay or Swappa) for trade-in instead of trading in your Pixel. The Pixel 8 can be sold for ~$200 and Pixel 9 is more. Trading in anything that can be sold for $200 or more is leaving money on the table. I saw a commenter saying he traded in multiple Pixel 9s and that made my head hurt. If you're already on Pixel 9, you really don't have much of a reason to spend ~$100 (taxes on this deal) to upgrade, unless you really want the TSM manufactured Tensor G5.

The Pixel 10 purchased through this deal will be LOCKED to T-Mobile. The phone needs to be paid off to be unlocked. Paying off the balance of the EIP (Equipment Installment Plan) will forfeit the monthly credit. HOWEVER, T-Mobile has free texting and free (slow) data for many countries, and you can also request that the phone be temporarily unlocked for your trip.

This is NOT necessarily a good deal for folks looking to switch to T-Mobile, but is definitely a good deal for those of us on an older T-Mobile plan such as Simple Choice, Magenta, etc. For example, I'm on Simple Choice, with 9 lines and a 5G Home Internet service, and I'm paying about $205/month. I am not leaving T-Mobile anytime soon. Even if they start charging me $5 more per line, my plan is still cheaper than any other carrier, including the MVNOs.

Sams is doing a similar deal to Costco, just did this a few days ago. No $35 activation fee (same as Costco), but only a $75 gift card from Sams Club. Was told the gift card would be available in 90 days.
The Sams club T-Mobile rep should know all about the promo but in case they don't here's the flyer on it:
https://scene7.samsclub.com/is/co...tmo-offers
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Costco rebate is now automatically submitted when you do the purchase at the Costco kiosk. This is in contrast to the method up to a few months ago, when you had to go home and submit the rebates (or forget and lose them).

Did Sam's club copy this, as well?

Not sure how Sams used to do it, but I got a paper from them that indicated "Your purchase qualifies you for a Sam's Club eGift Card - no action required!" Also the paper indicated that the EGift card will arrive within 16 weeks. (The rep told me to expect the Sam's gift card in 90 days).

Has anyone gone through with switching your trade-in to a different device than the one ordered at a T-mo store? Some reddit comments: https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/..._than_the/ and posters here said its possible. Any advice?

Has your order shipped? If it hasn't then you won't see it under your account activity until it does

If you log into your account and check account activity. You should see "Promotional Enrollment" that shows you the monthly credit that you will be getting. I am not sure if it needs to wait until the device is shipped but I placed the order on Friday and was able to see it on my account (though my device has been shipped and I got the tracking number already)

Do you see the rebate submitted at https://promotions.t-mobile.com/. I was also told it will automatically submit when I did over the phone but I have yet seen the rebate submission shows up online. I am thinking of just submit it myself just to be safe.

No they do check imei closely before accepting it. So not sure it will work but I may be wrong.

I have not done it myself but I believe that is okay. Though, I think you may need to call the CS to have it updated to the correct imei and device info as well as the trade in value (or do it via twitter or FB for t-force support (they seem to have more power and able to do more for custoemrs than regular chat or phone support). As long as the Imei is in the system and it matches correctly once tmobile received the device, I don't think there should be any issue.

Thanks, I tried calling support today and they were unable to change the device "as your order in is locked to the IMEI you submitted". So maybe worth trying in a corp. store, and if that doesn't work by T-force. T-force support is best accessible through where - if you don't mind sharing?

They will reject a cracked or damaged screen. Apparently cracked back glass could be okay.

I use twitter when I had had issue that I had to deal with tmobile. Sometimes may take a few tries until you get someone but ultimately, I was able to get the issue resolved. If you have a T-Mobile experience store, I would suggest you go to them. I have a much better experience with them.
