Exactly!

This is the kind of phone you purchase, activate, and throw in the center console or glove box in case you ever have an emergency. And then you give it to your kid to use at home or in the car or plane for games, movies, reading or whatever.
Or it can be the at-home device for family members to use as a TV remote, control your smart devices, air conditioning and whatever.

So many vast uses for a phone like this.

It's a no-brainer at $40, tax included!

Just my $0.02. To each their own!

Its pathetic when one person likes to thread crap without providing any competing better offers. And that is simply because there are no viable alternatives in this price range for phone plus service. Trac has been my go to for all four kids for years. The great thing about these plans if you can keep stacking service plans, so need twice as much time is as easy as buying the next tracfone deal or buying two of these and combining the plans.

Sometimes (I am saying this does not apply 10 out of 12 months)

Sometimes Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, QVC, HSN has $20 old fashion non android phones that are meant for senior citizens and thus are 2000s style 10 digit "dumb phones" (note these devices are 2019 or newer but since they do not have touch screen they are quite limited with the net even if they have a basic browser)

Tracfone last time I checked, allows you to activate a different tracfone device stack the minutes and add 1 more year of service, up to a max of 4 times a year. Thus these dumb phones are often the cheapest thing that come pre bundled with service. Yet this android 4 gb ram device is similar and cost $35. The non sale price for those dumb phones are $50 a device that come pre bundled with a year
You just go to the tracphone site and add a plan, I added the $15/mth unlimited talk and text option. You can do that anytime until the 1 year expires, if you don't, you have to get a new sim.

I should be able to just plug an existing TracFone sim into this phone and be good to go, right?
Yes. That's what I did. Any carrier will work, Total Wireless, Visible, etc.

Just FYI the latest Android updates choke this phone out a lot, it also has a ton of bloat ware. If you are handy with Android you can bring it back to usable. We're talking about waiting 2-3 seconds jumping from Gmail to Chrome. There are literally dozens of bloated apps that need to be disabled. Also to use the native Android messaging app, you need to login to a Google account.

That aside, camera is good enough, battery life is amazing.

I got a low end Samsung Galaxy A03s from QVC/HSN couple years ago, it was just too slow to be used. How does this Moto G 2025 compare to A03s? Thanks!

Not a chance. Who uses a phone for emulation? Just nab a Pi or a used Series S. The latter if Gamecube is important, as the Pi5 still struggles with that.
Literally no one uses a phone to emulate. No wonder there's so many emulation apps on the Google Play and App Store.

Love how you say to emulate on devices that aren't portable at all. You do know there's plenty of handheld devices that can emulate GameCube, right?

Or you can use it as a cell phone like I've been doing for the past 20 years, just don't watch movies on it, and don't use the detailed aerial satellite view in google maps when traveling. My monthly cost with tracfone averages less than $5/month, and I do all the same stuff as my daughter does on her fancy $13/month iphone.

It looks like QVC will automatically set you up with several recurring billing subscriptions, some of which require contacting the respective companies' customer service via phone/email to cancel. A virtual card number might help here.
No. They don't.

You just sign up with a different email. I have done it 3 times now, twice for this phone and once for the samsung deal. For $15/mo extra you can add unlimited talk and text if you don't need the data. Makes a great backup phone or just replacement.
if I need a new phone number how would that work? would this eventually unlock to use with tmobile?

yes, must be activated and locked for 60 days - unlock is automatic. Should work with most carriers.
