Exactly!

This is the kind of phone you purchase, activate, and throw in the center console or glove box in case you ever have an emergency. And then you give it to your kid to use at home or in the car or plane for games, movies, reading or whatever.
Or it can be the at-home device for family members to use as a TV remote, control your smart devices, air conditioning and whatever.

So many vast uses for a phone like this.

It's a no-brainer at $40, tax included!

Just my $0.02. To each their own!

Its pathetic when one person likes to thread crap without providing any competing better offers. And that is simply because there are no viable alternatives in this price range for phone plus service. Trac has been my go to for all four kids for years. The great thing about these plans if you can keep stacking service plans, so need twice as much time is as easy as buying the next tracfone deal or buying two of these and combining the plans.

What's the cheapest way to extend the service (time/days)?

Buy another phone when another deal comes out. That's what so many of us do.
These are not for people who live on their phone.
These are for people who have light usage.

I have a shoebox of perfectly good phones from these deals. Activate new phone keeping the number and your minutes & GB get carried over and added.

The best deal I got was a pair of flip-phones for $20 with 1200/1200/1200/365 days each. Added that service to my "real" phone and tossed the flip phones in the shoebox. Two more years of service for $20.

My neighbor lady does this and then sells the unlocked phone on ebay and recoups her money.

will this work on international carrier after 60 days ?? unlock in US and use in other country??
It works with international sim in the US after unlocking. I haven't tried it outsiide of the US, though I don't see any reason why it wouldn't.

Guys, what would you say about the phone as a device? I got a Moto G 2023, and that's a totally unusable piece of s. So, now I'm looking at this one, wondering, is it really any better in terms of usability? Like, I'm not too excited to wait until the screen got unlocked for about 5 seconds.

This phone has more RAM and 64GB of memory.

You would probably be much happier with this one. It costs a bit more, but the specs are significantly better. https://www.hsn.com/products/moto...e/23567605

I felt the same when I got the Samsung Galaxy A03s from QVC couple years ago, it was also a totally unusable piece of s... just too slow to do everything... I also wonder if this Moto G(the lowest end for Moto) will be the same experience. The price is good though.

Isn't that one a year older (2024) with the same RAM?

Not a chance. Who uses a phone for emulation? Just nab a Pi or a used Series S. The latter if Gamecube is important, as the Pi5 still struggles with that.
Lots of people who want excellent portable retro gaming & some less retro gaming.
This far more reliable vs most other cheap portable options.
Plus it has the full features of a smartphone easily accessible.

I have a few older phones I use as dedicated games and media devices.
Great for kids to use this way as well.

This won't do Gamecube super well though. Maybe some games and maybe even some really well but not without some testing to ensure this.
