I love Uncle Ben. I love this stuff. Changed my life - a minute in the microwave and no more messing with rice and water and pots.

Ben is and will always be our Uncle! Peter Parker said so.

Seriously. The name changed five years ago, and it doesn't say it anywhere on the product page. Now waiting for deals on Super Sugar Puffs and Coca-Cola Classic. 😄

Nothing personal but I see this comment as evidence of a lot that's wrong with the world.

This prepared stuff is 14 cents per ounce. A 25lb bag from Costco is 5.5 cents per ounce. Water is a minimal cost, but could be factored in for this exercise as a cost of 0.5 cents per ounce. Therefore, to your point, Bens Original charges a 232% premium on effort to do it one's self. And that's the sales price. Regular is 326%.

Convenience costs $. As stated above. Great for camping! Although, for those who plan for dinner in the morning - we put rice and boiling water in a wide mouth Stanley in the morning. Hot and cooked by dinner. Also - can get the % off a 12 pack of the rice, too.

Social media has opened the world to judgement without understanding. When I was young, I used to actually bake bread every week. Now I use a walker to get around my own house. I would love to live like Little House on the Prairie or cook for hours in the kitchen for my family like I used to and such - but the day Slickdeals pops up with a Rosie the Robot for me will make me very happy.

We aren't all young and healthy anymore. Lifting pots can be difficult. Convenience foods are good things.
