The drill bits are not impact. They are regular drill bits. People talk about it in the reviews.

It's still a good deal though.

They're drill. Bought this set last month thinking they were impact like the rest of the set. Disappointing, but still a good value.

For $23 they can be impact bits either way.

That doesn't make any sense, they won't stay in an impact gun.

Okay … not as good as their Elite series set, which is not on sale/clearance. Has better quality on bits. https://www.lowes.com/pd/DEWALT-E...5015604503

I don't think "impact drill bits" really have a use case, I think they just mean "heavy duty". An impact driver is for fasteners that need to overcome friction (rotational impacts). That won't do much for a drill bit unless the material is very gritty and the blades are catching as they spin.

"Masonry bits" have hardened tips for concrete/brick, and go in a hammer drill that hits them linearly (in & out) to break the material before sweeping it away.

Even "impact" screwdriving bits probably aren't necessary...in most cases you'll mangle the screw head long before you break the bit itself. In my experience the screw head goes first, and if you put enough weight on the driver/screw not to cam out, the next weak link is the screw body itself.

Yes, that adapter will work - but why not just use a drill?

You're not wrong, but having 1/4" hex shank drill bits in an impact kit is convenient.
I can still use them in my drill, but if I only grabbed my impact and need to make a hole, I can use the impact vs getting out the drill.

I think I got this (or the elite? Crazy similar) when it was last 25$. Nice set, nice box. Drills are non-hex (the super cheap cobalt set has hex drills btw). Only complaint is that the torx bits are really few and there is no T40. I'm not sure who in DEWALT thinks I need 8 1" SQ2 bits and only 1 T30, but they should ask BOSCH - their sets with fewer bits have everything!
