In the market for one, anyone know how these fare against the competition like the Bosch and other Amazon brands? This will be for light DIY projects at home.

Unless you're a pro who uses this thing every day or two, I'd get the non-rechargeable version. A rechargeable battery that just sits 99% of the time will quickly fail and become e-waste.

Occasionally spending $2 on batteries is a solid tradeoff for having an infinite shelf life. I got this one and it worked great for the 2 times I used it (and it will still work in a few months when I need it again)

I've left mine on a couple of times while fetched more tools and had to replace all the batteries, twice. I'd love one that had rechargeable batteries

You're talking about leaving it on for a few hours I assume? I've gotten at least an hour out of the cheap included batteries so far. It's not like it dies in 5 minutes if you go back to your truck to get a screwdriver.

Might only take 1-5 minutes to find the screwdriver but 3 hours to get back to my initial project.

maybe turn it off then back on if you're not gonna be using it for hours. hardly seems like an issue with the product/battery life at that point

I have a huepar Amazon one that I've used about 18 months. It works well and I've bought more as gifts. This brand being at Costco leads me to believe it would be just as good if not better. I have an electric screwdriver from this brand that's great so I'd have confidence in it.
