You would really want to appreciate the Sony upscaling to pay this price

I own this TV and I paid about this price ..open box at Best Buy about 18 months ago for the 65"

All things being considered you could probably snag a closeout LG G4 for less..and that is probably the way I would go, unless I was watching lower than 4K material on a regular basis

You ain't wrong. The Sony tax on something like that Bravia 8 II, I can understand. But for this, no shot. But just to throw it out there, a new 65" G4 is essentially non existent these days. And the 55" is about the same price as this

I'm glad you're enjoying your A95L, but I can't believe the pricing on the A95L lineup. It originally launched in 2023. For comparison, the G4 77" was $2299 late last year at the LG Partner Store. I typically opt for LG or Samsung OLEDs because they support higher refresh rates for PC gaming (4K165), and they have 4x HDMI 2.1 ports. Lastly, I don't think the A95L 55" or 65" have been cheaper than this. The A95L 77" is super expensive if you wanted a bigger size.

I have a sony from 2021 lineup. I got a very nice open box deal few years ago.. and it's def not old. It's their Z 8K panel. But, i never watched even 1 8k video on it, except some upscaled YT

might be fun try hooking a PC up to it and using DLSS at 8K in cyberpunk. Remember when the 3090 was marketed as a 8k card?

I wonder how many people buy a Sony TV just because it has Google TV software rather than that absolute garbage that the other manufacturers are putting on their TVs.

to be honest, i only use 1 part of google software, after the initial setup.. it's the recently viewed programs, in case i want to continue the series on some streaming service and not have to login in, search, etc...

of course, other ppl's experience/use cases maybe different

I have a 77" Sony A80K I got open box from BB on a unicorn price mist@ke for $936. I buy so many TVs I had to move that one into my office but it still works great. Big fan of Sony OLED. I upgraded to a 98" TCL QM7K for $1999 tho, and the picture, honestly is *nearly* as good as the Sony OLED. OLED still beats it, but the 98" is much much brighter, and nothing compares to the experience of sitting 9.5 feet away from a 98" TV. But I still love my OLEDs, and all my other rooms have them, including Samsung and LG

The main reason to buy a Sony TV is for the video processing & upscaling.
Purchasing a TV because of Google TV would not make sense. Google TV OS is great but most TVs even top-tier struggle with it. It is best to buy an external stream box.... eg

I am hoping when I am ready to upgrade from this TV, the 98" will come down in price... within next few years!

What kind of upscaler is in that $50 Onn box?
