Looks like a beast with few compromises. Not sure on price/value; definitely penciled in on short list. Anything better out there around same price point?

Native 4K would be nice, but 1600 (~1440 with better non-widescreen support) is fine until plugged into a monitor. I'd take 1600 @240Hz OLED over 4K 60/120 LED all day long

Good contender as desktop replacement that will sometimes be used on the go?

I bought this a few weeks ago from eBay as a certified refurb. Great device, runs with around a 10-15% deficit compared to a fully-powered 5070 TI. CPU runs at full power.

Few compromises with this device:
1) Acer does not typically allow undervolting on their newer devices, and I have not found a way to undervolt on this. You can limit CPU power but that can affect performance.
2) Screen runs at 240 hz by default. There is a way to get it to run at a lower hz, but it takes a bit of work.
3) Case is a bit less premium than other options in this range, in my opinion. It is mostly aluminum but it doesn't have the sturdiness of the Asus G series, Legion 7, etc.

Otherwise, this is a great device. Direct competitor on price is the HP Omen Max with 5070 TI, which runs around the same price when it hits sale with OLED, RAM upgrade, and storage upgrade. Omen is a bit sturdier from what I've heard and runs the 5070 TI at full power, but it is heavier and bulkier. Legion 5 has gotten within striking distance of this as well.

This 5070 TI can run at full power as well. There is a guide somewhere on the net

Mine is bigger than yours. HP Omen 16 Max, OLED, 64GB Ram, 2.5TB, 5080, I7255HX, WIFI 7
$1430 all in with some hustle

What kind of battery life are you getting? This laptop is almost exactly what I have been looking for, except I feel like the battery life will fall short for my needs.

Thats dopee! No brainer price. Would love to know where and how you got that price😁

Edit: Just checked the price and was close to 3-3.5k for the spec which is insane. Now I def have to know how😭😭

Edit 2: In hindsight I'm not sure I'd still be pulling the trigger for the HP Omen considering HP build quality and sales support which isn't as great from what I know and also the portability maybe. Mine weighs 5.5lbs only and is probably a bit sleeker but I checked it shows this weighs just about 6lbs or maybe higher.

Brand quality + Better Portability - Legion Pro 5i
5080 + 240Hz Screen vs 5070 Ti + 165Hz - Not sure which one I would pick even now

About the best use for it. The build quality is very mediocre at this price point (honestly I think it's mediocre at any price point, only thing worse than this is MSI's gaming lines). I wouldn't want to daily carry this because I wouldn't expect it to make 2 years given how flimsy it feels.

Also from what I recall from the prior thread the dGPU can't be turned off so battery life no matter settings is like 2 hours or some nonsense.

Very much a desktop replacement you can take with you and used with wall power.
