I would NOT pay this much for a drive with bad sectors. Them listing it in "excellent condition" is an outright lie. These drives have permanent, post-manufacturing damage. It may or may not result in problems down the road.

interesting, do you have proof? I always heard they were cold spares. for us a cold spare was a drive sitting on the shelf next to the server rack that is waiting be put in in case a drive fails. we had it because we had a very good SLA and it was cheaper for the company to give us a dive and "next day" a spare then to courier (4 hour round trip) a drive on site (we live in rural area). when we updated our drives they couldn't use the spare drive for someone else (they knew about our hard drive shuffle board games)

I've purchased 50+ Refurbished drives from goHardDrive and ServerPartDeals and all have been reset to zero after testing and if you look, they sell 3 tiers of drives 0 bad sectors, up to10 bad sectors which is what this drive is and they also sell some up to 100 bad sectors on some drives.
If you look at the second picture in the listing, they even give you a good idea of what the power on time and how many times the disks powered on and off before they reset the smart. That is probably about the average power on time for this batch of disks they are selling.

I agree. The second picture in the listing shows 10 bad sectors as an example which is obviously not less than 10 and it is alarming to me that the hard disk diagnostic app is showing the drive health at 85%. There is a 1-year Allstate plan in addition to the 5 year warranty but with all the downside risks seems sketchy to have Allstate eat the cost to refund or replace the drive or kick the can (or HDD lol) down the road abit and recycle more of these reject drives over a 5 year period. I was looking to pick up a couple of drives but don't think I can jump on this deal for these reasons even though the price is appealing and reputation of the seller is pretty good.

Allstate is the one offering the warranty, that's on them to check the details of what they're covering

These are unlikely to have their SMART stats reset. That happens with manufacturer recertified drives or used drives from unreputable sellers. BTW, I've seen them selling drives with far more than 100 bad sectors.

Depends on your mounting, but if your major concern is silence I wouldn't buy a server drive, its not for that. I personally don't notice server drives over my fans and air purifier in a das enclosure but I doubt you can get away with this if its for a home theater pc.

$10 a gig for old beat up drives? Lol how is this a deal? The 5year warranty from goharddrive on theae drives only has value if your time is worth nothing.
