I had this laptop for 2 weeks. It's a great system for what it it but i opted to go with a similarly spec'd HP Omen 16 slim instead. The screen is gorgeous. The trackpad is like glass and buttery smooth. I didn't like the keyboard at all. It ran a bit slower on some benchmarking software like 3Dmark not incredibly slower but The Omen pulled out ahead and has a superior keyboard and a number pad, which everyone may not like, but I find indispensable. The Hp's screen is no where near the the beauty of the Aero but when push came to shove I decided to return this and keep the Omen instead. But again, for this price, It's def a winner in my book and i think 90% of people would be more than happy with it.

i have an older gen with 3070ti, the keyboard layout is weird, the keycap is smaller than usual. The trackpad is large, but hard to navigate.

What you're describing is a very obvious fact. HP Omen 16 Slim, despite the "Slim" name, neither Slim nor light and is a full blown Gaming Laptop, weighting at 5.4 lbs, more than one lbs. Heavier than this. It's CPU and GPU, both offers higher Power envelop than this one. This is a Thin & Light Gaming laptop, like Asus G16, a bit less premium though, and they always have lower thermal and power envelop than full blown Gaming laptops.

Hmm. Well, that's an interesting take. I literally bought one on a Saturday and the other one on a Monday and had a solid 2 weeks with both. I just returned the Aero to Bestbuy 3 days ago. The Hp 16 slim is very much LIGHT and SLIM...no clue where you're getting your info from...probably the shipping weight? But I can tell you, personally that holding them both up in each hand I could literally feel no perceptible weight difference between them. NONE. Let me repeat that. Holding one in my left hand and the other in my right hand, I could not feel a perceptible weight difference between them. Even if the HP is on paper marginally heavier, I couldn't detect it. - I'm 99% sure you have zero hands on experience with either of them other than some spec sheets to make any claims, or even the fact that I bought them within two days of each other to actually do a head to head comparison, so I'm unclear how you're qualified to rebuke my opinions or offer much in the way of an insightful or knowledgeable perspective other than a slickdeal alert. Which hey, thanks by the way, but I think the comments are better suited to offering some actual first hand experience (which I have) as opposed to griping and griefing.

At this price point I believe it is the cheapest 5070 laptop on the market. Also comes with 32GB DDR5 and 1TB SSD so you don't have to put extra effort into upgrading too.

How much did you pay for the HP Omen 16 slim?

Nvidia is releasing new improved GPUs soon. You may consider waiting as all these laptops will be clearanced. I'd wait and save a little until November and catch a 5080 laptop for $1750.
These 5070 laptops should drop to $899

I have a strong suspicion you're probably in the minority if you consider a 28% heavier weight to be "imperceptible". Hands on experience is definitely good to have, but specs are an objective comparison

Yeah right. Your thinking about the desktop RTX Super refreshes that are incoming. The Mobile RTX's were just refreshed earlier this year. Mobile chips are always behind the desktop counterparts, and we will have the mobile 5070 in retail for at least the next 1-1.5 years before we see them replaced. Best Buy just cleared out the 4070 Laptops just a few weeks ago, and most of those were above $900 even after open box discounts.

He must be referring to the Super card that is rumor to come out in Q4 that will be same price is the regular card with much more RAM. That I can wait.

But for laptop, I think this is a good price and value especially if you are looking for one without the numpad.

This is slick deals as you should search for the rtx 4070 $899 deals at microcenter. Also the 5070 is only 3.6% improvement over the 4070. The 5070 Ti is 20% improvement over the 4070. Also the 5070 mobile GPUs launched and were widely available before the desktop GPUs unavailability. Cough cough missing ROPS defective GPUs even in laptops. All these GPUs will be replaced that's why they are on sale. Soon to go on clearance.

I got a 4070 115W GPU laptop with 500 nit screen that weights in at just 4 pounds new from Walmart for $820 after cashback a year or so ago. Way before 5000 series release and clearance.

And my benchmarks at full power are within 5% of 5070 and 15% of 5070 ti.

Last week I thought $1300 for this exact laptop was a great deal and bought it. Now it is $1200. BB just did a price adjustment for me on the phone, save me another $100
