You will be fine and it would be a good upgrade to your system. Keep in mind aesthetically the two subs are different. The GEN three is a glossy finish, the GEN four is a matte finish.
Performance wise they are very similar. This will NOT unbalance your system.
Is this Sonos Sub (Gen4)( $120 off) + Sonos Arc Ultra Soundbar ($100 off ) worth the bite or wait for Blackfriday deal ?
Yes I have this exact system and it is beyond stunning. Like an Imax Theater in Movies and Music. You will not be disappointed.

This is Sonos' way of forcing you to buy the most recent products that have essentially the same performance. So you are basically more limited in compatibility the greater the gap is between older and newer products which is frustrating but perhaps something we will see repeated with their product strategy.
