Do not buy any MSI laptops. Worst product and support experience.

I looked at some reviews and people have reported that numerous MSI laptops often experience broken hinges after a year. The case feels like cheap plastic. It flexes pretty easily just pushing on it. One review said a key on the keyboard was broken upon opening the box. It's pretty powerful and can play a lot of games, but for under $600 for a gaming laptop, you might get what you pay for. I'd say it's a Meh deal. Not bad, but not the best quality parts IMO. Good price. The $86, four year protection plan through Allstate, would be a requirement for me if I purchased it.

You can buy a laptop open box or refurbished with extended warranty from various places(Ebay, Amazon, Best Buy). I bought an open box from Bestbuy for $550 with 2 year warranty about 6 months ago that blows this out of the water.

Aim to get at least a 4060 or 5060 at this price range. And yeah, avoid MSI laptops. The hinges on this will break. It's not a case of if but when they will break.

Agreeing with others, don't buy MSI gaming laptops. I think their business line is fine from what I have heard but their gaming line is and has been junk for a decade or more.

for a very capable gpu, cpu, and 16gb ram, $550 is an insane deal. just take care of your laptop by being gentle and i am sure it will last without breaking. only thing stopping me from getting this is i am looking for a 17" or > screen laptop with some gaming potential.

"Insane" is a bit of a stretch. It's way better than last Black Friday, but probably will be common place or a bad price this fall.

Hinges being an issue is very true. I have one of their high end workstation laptops and I've had hinges break 3 times. You can't repair the hinge, you have to replace the shell (metal/plastic cover around the screen). I've paid $150 for parts...3 times to replace the aluminum shell on my laptop. Decided to use speed tape this time around and it's holding well.

I bought a MSI Ghost laptop back in 2017. Played games on it for 5+ years. Never an issue. Took it everywhere with me. I still have it to this day and now use it for basic PC needs when out of town due to having a build pc at home.

I've never experienced any laptop issues with my MSI gaming laptop. I open/close it at least twice a day (6 days a week). I use it for business and gaming needs. Never had a hinge break, although, yes, the quality is less than desirable. I've had the laptop for over a year.
