But at least for the last 4-5 years I don't think I've found a case of ESET catching something that Windows by itself didn't.
Again I still get it for a couple of machines that I'm more paranoid for, but the justification for buying it gets weaker and weaker.
My experience is of course anecdotal, and I'm sure smarter people have already pitted the systems against each other, but average Joe can probably skip a dedicated AV these days.
