250W mid drive is pretty common and sufficient for most people. they are very different from a hub drive where you need at least 500W. The difference being that shifting gears provides a different/better torque range for the motor, which hub drives don't benefit from. many super expensive eMTBs run 250w mid drives even (albeit better quality Bosch ones...)
As for the negative reviews. most are regarding damage during shipping and problems assembling. These are HEAVY. somewhere in the 55-70lb range. so shipment damage isn't surprising. I would strongly recommend having at least a semi-professional bike tech assemble it and give it a proper tune up.
I put together a similar step through Royce union that was a similar price. It was a decent deal for what it was, but most folks would have either returned it or ran into countless frustrations the first few rides (shifting problems, rubbing brakes, loose bolts, creeking parts, etc) which is common with all cheap department store bikes.

A few important facts...
All mid drive motors claim "250 watts" even when they have a lot more power. This is because most mid-drive motors are sold in Europe and European regulations only allow 250 "average" watts. "Average" isn't well-defined, so they're all a lot more powerful, but they all have to claim 250W.
Mid drive motors mean you can change the rear tire by the side of the road when you get a flat, just like a regular bike, instead of being stranded because you need tools. They're a huge upgrade over hub drive.
This bike comes with a rack and fenders. These will cost you close to $100 if you have to put them on a bike that doesn't already have them, and it's a pain in the butt.

HOWEVER! This bike has a tiny battery...280 watt-hours (36V x 7.8 aH) if they're being honest. Good ebikes have 500-750 watt-hours, cheaper ebikes have 300-350.

This bike is a great deal IF you don't need to go on long rides. For a work commute and a grocery getter, it's a slick deal. For recreational riding, you probably want something with a bigger battery.

available in Seattle area for shipping. However, terrible reviews on this bike. is it worth to take the risk?

Can anyone confirm if this is a good deal? How does it compare to these Ali express e-bikes?

From what I can see on YouTube this a better commuter bike than mountain bike.

MID DRIVE. This is arguably a (very?) good deal because it is mid drive and not hub drive. Mid drive motors and the bikes they may be attached to come at a premium over hub driver ebikes.

Alot of cheap ebikes are steel frames, this is aluminum. Interesting to see.

afaik this is the cheapest middrive to be on SD, cheaper than the royce unions from like a year or more back.

Lame color.

Weak battery... 20 miles range, which may or not be under some ideal conditions. Something to consider. Driving these without battery is quite the workout, and a 20 mile ride isn't that much with an ebike.

It's still 350 dollars. Which is better off invested in an actual mid drive bike with a Bosch or Yamaha motor. Anyone who knows to find importance in a mid drive would want a better battery not to mention know the torque which isn't even shown
