Did just get this email, so if anyone is in a sparsely populated area, might want to check promotions from the Starlink website directly.
"Residential Lite at $49/mo for Your First Year
Starlink is offering Residential plans starting at $49/mo for your first year. Additionally, get an $89 Standard Kit (previously $349). Available everywhere in Nebraska.
Experience speeds up to 200+ Mbps - this means 4K streaming on multiple devices at once, online gaming, frequent video calls, and more."
Residential Lite is listed slower, and I never used it, don't think I'd notice much for a $10 cost difference, I never test less than 300, usually over 400 on the full plan.
It's the Internet service you get when you have absolutely no other choice, I think.
And of course it's owned and run by one of the most greedy evil sociopaths and bullies on the planet, if that matters to you.

I have grown weary of boycotting any and every product that might have some taint from a psychopathic leadership. When your entire world is tainted, what do you do in your day to day choices? You choose the lesser of evils. My opinion of Musk is that he has faults, but he is also a human with goals that exceed what most of us cannot imagine. I will not agree that he is a bad person.
Comparison? Fiber in town, 15 miles away, is $100 for 100/20. Other town 16 miles in the opposite direction has about 300 down, but charges a $20 base fee and $0.13 per 1GB of data used, no other plan. Starlink is faster, pings are nearly the same, cheaper (if using an amount of data) not to mention the other options are not available to me.
Blanket statements that something is better aren't really useful. Not all areas are the same. The above is my area.

Your last statement is both irrelevant and false.
I mentioned my Internet providers, and they were not a factor in our TV watching.
But after getting Starlink, we started using streaming video services and kicked Dish to the curb. Dish will never invade our home again. They are scoundrels, they have used and abused their position for decades, and now that they have lost their "lordship of the realm", they have nothing to offer. But Dish can enjoy my lifelong derision and hate that they earned from their decades of abuse that I put up with. Why did I put up with abuse? Because I pay the bills but my family demands TV. And when Dish was the only game, I had to satisfy the family.
Going back to normal mode, I kicked Dish to the curb and the family has been happy with Starlink and moving flexibly between various Roku subscriptions month by month. Unlike the Dish Nazis, most Roku plans are easy to start and easy to end. They usually let you cancel before the term is up, and let you go to the last day. Sometimes they will give an offer to keep going for a short term for a reduced price.
