Refillable. legally transportable after refill. (Has a bleed screw so you can refill without freezing the canister first)

Refilling is pretty easy. Just get one of the connectors and flip the big tank.

I thought you can do it with colemans too... Never tried, but amazon has thousands of reviews for those refil adapters...

The legality part is only regarding transporting them after refill.

These aren't necessary to have in refilling and that makes this a super-NOT-slick deal to me.

How many of these do you have to refill before they pay themselves off? My quick math is about 10-15.

I've refilled the standard ones without any issues. Just be sure your canister is in good shape and it shouldn't present a problem. I'd Flip the big tank and set timer for 5ish minutes and that would give me a full fill of 16oz, per scale

I refill the colemans all the time without issue.

This saves money compared to disposable ones and have peace of mind that you are refilling something that's intended to be refillable. The fact that DOT approved refilling these, but not others, is a sign that these must have some extra safety mechanics (I don't know what they are).

To me it was worth it to pay a few extra bucks for the peace of mind versus refilling the disposable ones. But you do you 👍
