8gb of ram. 128gb of storage. All in a 5 year old used machine...in 2025.
You just never stop saying irrelevant stuff. The Ram and storage is in the title. Does anybody need help with the year? If you do, it's OK but most people do not need a reminder. I think it's good to be nice in forums, but you just posting the same sorts of stuff in every single thread is just you ego posting.

I point out how utterly bad of a deal this is, while providing an alternative. You....merely complain about me doing that. Which you're free to do, by all means. You also could provide alternatives to this deal....or an alternate viewpoint as to why this deal is actually a hidden gem. But you're also free to not do that either.
It may be a bad deal for you, but perfectly fine for a middle schooler or high schooler. They may be old and many Macs of 10 year old or older are still in use. The only way to say something is a bad deal is to show a similar priced product with more usefulness, or similar useful product for lower price. Otherwise, your post provides nothing.

This is not a good deal. This is effectively ewaste. In 2015, 16gb ram + 512gb ssds were considered baseline. And these are garage sale finds that aren't even spit n' shine refurbs (usually with more spit than shine).

You have to have extremely minimal requirements to make this "deal" viable...especially sincere there are alternatives that far outperform this at modestly higher price points. And a high tolerance for risk since it's such an old, beat up machine. That's a hard dice roll to endure.

There was a sale on SD recently for M1 Macbook Air with 16gb ram + 1tb ssd, with a 1 year "All States" warranty -- for $500. Which is arguably a far better deal.

To think that constantly getting downvoted on every thread would make you stop, but you don't. On the other thread you just referred to, you were calling it a bad deal as well, and here you are suggesting that deal over this. Stop trolling on every thread.

I will tell you exactly why this deal is quite good, if not downright slick. First of all, a similar deal on a better condition was $100 more a short while ago, and it was a very popular frontpage deal: https://slickdeals.net/f/18466465-refurbished-a-grade-macbook-air-m1-399?src=SDSearchv3&attrsrc=Thre..., then there was also this popular deal: https://slickdeals.net/f/18508246-refurb-apple-macbook-air-13-3-2560x1600-m1-8gb-ram-128gb-ssd-space...
So, reflecting on those, this is much cheaper and hence better.

Also, not everyone requires 16GB RAM to use a laptop for basic functions. This is a $300 laptop; keep your expectations real. This processor, display, speakers, keyboard, build quality still outperforms a lot of Intel and Ryzen laptops at this price. You have asked the other user to provide better deals, why don't you?

Say you never used a MacBook or macOS without saying it.... your arguments are on point for a windows pc. macOS is a different animal with lesser system requirements especially with apple silicon. Just keep in mind, I can go on my local craigslist and spot several M1 MacBook airs 13" with these base model specs for 500-600$ all day long. So already woot is undercutting FB market place and craigslist with a warranty.

I have two MBA M1's with 8/256 and they work absolutely great. Super quick wifi, resolution for a 13" screen is worlds better than the FHD you get even on 17" windows laptops lately, over 26 on Speedometer3.1 (better than my 64gb ryzen9 3950x with RTX3080) and are just fantastic little machines that do about anything a regular user would want. The 8/256 doesn't even factor in at all for me, but if it did, I'd just hook up an external drive. Battery lasts forever as well. I'd seriously consider a third at this price even though right now I have no use for it. I've set both of mine up on little stands at opposite ends of the house and use them for lots of things - daily journal, shopping list, chatting on social media, reading email. Zero issues.

I edit 4K footage (20-30 minute timeline) daily on mine with brave browser and logic pro in the background. My 2 cents.

It's good enough to use it at Starbucks for 12 hours a day while plugged to write next NYT bestseller.

Man i thought it was just me thinking this. I don't even want to comment to them because they are trolling these threads so hard. Like yo, go outside, get some sun. Stop taking your depression out on us.

Also this deal is so terrible that it's sold out.

For posting/worried about the age of the processor. I'm a creative director and use an M1 Max daily. It has more RAM & a larger HD, but the processing speed is more than enough for me, even with very heavy loads (1-2 GB PSB files). This is more than enough for a middle/high school kid or occasional user to get by for quite some time.

Did Apple release an M1 with 128/8 config? I thought they started with 256/8

Yes, this is a very capable computer. It is fast, smooth and does a good job with what o need to do almost everyday. Battery life is great.
I don't think a lot of people really understand the build quality and durability of MacBooks. Talk about lack of enough RAM and storage and here too it is common for many to not need that for their uses.

This could be a very good alternative to a $300 tablet. I think it should blow away any 13" tablet out there performance wise.
