To think that constantly getting downvoted on every thread would make you stop, but you don't. On the other thread you just referred to, you were calling it a bad deal as well, and here you are suggesting that deal over this. Stop trolling on every thread.

I will tell you exactly why this deal is quite good, if not downright slick. First of all, a similar deal on a better condition was $100 more a short while ago, and it was a very popular frontpage deal: https://slickdeals.net/f/18466465-refurbished-a-grade-macbook-air-m1-399?src=SDSearchv3&attrsrc=Thre..., then there was also this popular deal: https://slickdeals.net/f/18508246-refurb-apple-macbook-air-13-3-2560x1600-m1-8gb-ram-128gb-ssd-space...
So, reflecting on those, this is much cheaper and hence better.

Also, not everyone requires 16GB RAM to use a laptop for basic functions. This is a $300 laptop; keep your expectations real. This processor, display, speakers, keyboard, build quality still outperforms a lot of Intel and Ryzen laptops at this price. You have asked the other user to provide better deals, why don't you?

You just never stop saying irrelevant stuff. The Ram and storage is in the title. Does anybody need help with the year? If you do, it's OK but most people do not need a reminder. I think it's good to be nice in forums, but you just posting the same sorts of stuff in every single thread is just you ego posting.

It may be a bad deal for you, but perfectly fine for a middle schooler or high schooler. They may be old and many Macs of 10 year old or older are still in use. The only way to say something is a bad deal is to show a similar priced product with more usefulness, or similar useful product for lower price. Otherwise, your post provides nothing.

This is a fantastic machine and deal; the only reason I gifted mine to my high schooler is because the M4 was such a great deal.
This machine will do 99% of what most need, and is likely to be supported for at least another 5+ years (as it is still being actively sold new.)

Back during the windows 8 launch, I worked at a Staples in their tech department. Staples used to sell a specific acer model and you could get it in any spec you want. Want 4GB of ram and the cheapest CPU? Sure, $219! Want a Core I7, 16GB of ram and 2TB HDD? Sure, $850! Guess what? Same $200 laptop, different CPU. $600 difference. This machine was sold to people who only cared about specs or were told by a family member to only shop specs.
The machine was an impressive amount of awful. 15.6 inch 768P 200 nit display, floppy plastic build, plastic trackpad, loud cooling, no backlit keyboard, hilariously bad battery life. We called it the 'spec-queen'.

This Macbook is like if you did the opposite of that laptop...except it still has the i7.

Sure, 8GB ram, blah, whatever, it's $300. 16Gb of ram is also hard to find these days in new windows machines at $300. 16 hours of battery, 1600P, 400nit P3 display, glass trackpad, backlit keyboard, metal build, thunderbolt 3, GTX 1650 equivalent GPU, CPU faster than any core i7 U-series CPU ever made (including 13th gen, only core ultra is faster in this wattage). Keep in mind that none of the tablets in this price range have more ram either and this still has incredibly fast swap while being a little less memory hungry than windows. This thing is 5 years old, sure, it also had the best performance per watt in the industry at the time too, it took 3 years for AMD and Intel to catch up. If you look at it like a midrange 8GB of ram 2023-24 laptop, suddenly it doesn't seem bad at all.

Maybe, just maybe...some people care about actually using the device rather than just processing? If that isn't your gig, that's fine, but don't go off trying to convince people to confine themselves to your needs or that their own needs are wrong.

For most students that aren't needing a powerful machine, try to find a better performing and more durable laptop at this price point than this one. This is actually a pretty good deal, as long as buyers go in knowing that this isn't going to run a local LLM or play fortnite at highest settings (or...many games...it's a Mac!).

The M1 chip has held up real well.

8gb of ram. 128gb of storage. 90 day warranty. All in a 5 year old used machine...in 2025. And Amazon even admits they're beat up.

This is not a good deal. This is effectively ewaste. In 2015, 16gb ram + 512gb ssds were considered baseline. And these are garage sale finds that aren't even spit n' shine refurbs (usually with more spit than shine).

You have to have extremely minimal requirements to make this "deal" viable...especially sincere there are alternatives that far outperform this at modestly higher price points. And a high tolerance for risk since it's such an old, beat up machine. That's a hard dice roll to endure.

There was a sale on SD recently for M1 Macbook Air with 16gb ram + 1tb ssd, with a 1 year "All States" warranty -- for $500. Which is arguably a far better deal.
as someone with a 16gb ram m1 macbook air you could not be more wrong

i guarantee you this 8gb version will run laps around any windows laptop up to $600 in anything other than gaming

arm based soc's are not comparable to the x86 chips you're used to, please don't spread misinformation if you don't know what you are talking about

and macbooks build quality is top of its class, better than even $2000+ windows counterparts, this will easily last for another decade. my 2010 macbook pro still works flawlessly, can't say the same about any other windows laptop other than older thinkpads

for 300 this is an amazing deal

Did Apple release an M1 with 128/8 config? I thought they started with 256/8
Yeah i'm wondering if this is an edu sku or something. even 256 is tough to deal with if you are a creative (constantly having to shuffle photos off).

Typing on an M1 Air and it's fantastic. 128GB is a bit too little, but I'm using 256gb and it's good for basics. I just keep everything else on separate drives (likes photos, videos, etc.).

Anyone have experience buying the "scratch and dent" condition from Woot? Seems like it could be risky, as there's no physical store to return like Bestbuy. Might be hassle if you get a truly "scratched and dent" model

It's not a $300 laptop. It's almost $400.

Yeah, not a good deal. This is practically end of life. It wasn't a good deal at launch either. Not sure why people constantly post this refurbished junk. The battery is probably dead too.

how can you guarantee something thats no longer true? the latest 15th gen Core Ultra 5/7 ~$600 intel laptops switched to tsmc fab manufacturing and will run laps around m1. even last years 14th gen already are better and more power efficient than the M1.

M1 was an amazing chip when it came out in 2020, we are almost at 2026 and you still think the M1 is beating everything? gotta stop drinking the cool aid friend
