yes, the federal energy credit is for new purchase. Used or refurbished does not qualify. There is also a minimum energy density requirement for battery. The smaller Delta 3 or Max does not qualify.

I bought this exact setup in 2 pieces (inverter with one battery kit, plus another battery) from wellbots a couple months ago, but new. I spent about $6000. With the 30% rebate, it will be $4200. Cheaper than this refurbished setup that gets no rebate. I would wait for the next wellbots deal and buy new. Avoid this deal.

There is minimum for Residential. I believe it is 3kWh minimum.
