Better to stick with a metal one if you want to mash them even while they are still hot. I got one from a dollar store (betty crocker I think ) few years ago which still works great. There is a cuisinart one posted on slickdeals for just a dollar more...

Has anyone used the Cuisinart that is in the link by Mr. Sunny? I see they're welded at the bottom which could break in a short time if not welded well. I would prefer if they used one solid piece of metal. But then again for the price, If it lasts a year ...

I prefer a non metal one so I can use it on nonstick pans. I use mashers like this for all sorts of things from tomatoes to potatoes.
