This is an amazing deal, but I don't recommend these paddles as they don't really mimic the pop/power of a normal paddle at all. You are far better off just practicing with a normal paddle if your goal is to improve.
The only real purpose of these paddles is to flex or reduce your play level by 0.5ish points to be able to play with a lower level group of players.

This is an amazing deal, but I don't recommend these paddles as they don't really mimic the pop/power of a normal paddle at all. You are far better off just practicing with a normal paddle if your goal is to improve.
The only real purpose of these paddles is to flex or reduce your play level by 0.5ish points to be able to play with a lower level group of players.

Agreed - even for drilling these paddles have a novelty factor that wears off in a medium time range. Totally worth having one if you have a drill group or drill a lot, and there are some things you can learn about your technique with these, but definitely not meant to be used in a game you are trying to be competitive as possible in.

Training paddles don't do anything except make you better with a training paddle. Practice with what you're going to use in games and tournaments.

as a total noob, can you explain what makes this a training paddle? from what I gathered from the few comments, it's because of the length of the handle?

No, it's the size of the paddle face. It's way smaller than a regular one. The idea is that if you can hit this small paddle face, then you'll hit the center of the regular-sized one.

the weight is the same as a typical paddle, ~8oz, and it's head heavy so it feels heavier in the hand. but you gotta understand that its a training paddle, so when you play with your main you'll have faster hands and make more contact in the sweet spot
