it's a weight issue, the 2 AA's will be about the weight of a good ultralight mouse that charges via cable.
I have been using the G305 for the past 6 years. It uses a single AA battery, and runs solid with every day use (10+ hours) for over 3 months. Weight-wise, it is actually lighter than a similar wired mouse. You could swap it to AAA with a converter to drop even more weight, but lose about a month of use time. I'm not sure I'll ever go back to rechargeable LiON ever again, in a mouse that is.

The mouse has a 1k polling rate and is one of the older model lines for the G Pro wireless. Nonetheless still a good deal, but no one would ever buy this mouse at the original price, let alone a 30% sale

I had this mouse for roughly two years before the side buttons failed. I also found that it was susceptible to electromagnetic interference more than other wireless mice that I've owned. This resulted in some cursor micro-stuttering.

micro usb or no, this is my favorite mouse since the old intellimouse optical as far as shape.
I keep several of these on hand as backups but one broke, I'll be replacing it for $40, its a bargain.

I got the non superlight version a while ago. it's a very comfy mouse, however I prefer my G502 form factor. There are extra buttons within reach of my index finger that I don't have on the gpro. I have to use my ring finger to get to the ambi buttons for the same functionality. This is 60grams vs my non superlight 80 grams. I can't imagine needing such a light mouse, but I'm sure there are ultra quick gamers that utilize the lack of weight well.

I have the battery version. The only thing I hate is the side buttons are easy to accidentally hit when grabbing the mouse. I've accidentally "clicked back" on a browser window often enough until I disabled the button.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

"PRO" tip (sue me): This product is on DoorDash for same price. DoorDash has Best Buy coupon 20% off $50+ with code BESTBUY20, add a $10 filler item or maybe choose some other product that's on-sale.

Go even further: Buy DoorDash gift cards at 15% off on BestBuy.com to make it even better. Of course this makes even more sense with DashPass.

So...I actually have another account here so not sure if I have the post on this account or the other, but I am really into ultralight mice. I have a modded 305 with the AAA lithium batteries with a shaved down endcaps to make them AA size. You can get the weight down to about 68 gm this way.

The AAA batteries are a little bit than half the weight of the AA batteries, you can get aftermarket 3d printed replacement outer plastic casing and the battery cover to reduce weight and get it down to around 68 grams.

I agree that hotswappable battery is the way to go. I assume you have the steel series artic wireless pro as this has a swappable abttery system as well.
So I do like my 305 that's modded, but I can get lighter mice that are full size at 59 grams or less so it's not my goto mouse anymore.

Of course the shape and size relative to hand is ALSO important, so while being light is okay it still needs to be proper size and fit of your hand or you lose out on accuracy from there. So it's not all about the weight alone.

This is the best mouse ive ever used. Seriously at 40$ its a steal. The new verisons of this retail for 150$ and the only difference is the charging port.
