obviously for most, this is a ridiculous price. Lets just say however, youre buying a 1200 dollar Roborock vs 1200 dollar competitor or even a few 100 bucks cheaper competitor that competes with this. ALWAYS choose this brand. Their vaccums always overall do everything right. And they have great ability to not get stuck in things compared to competitors who claim the same. Think of them as the APPLE of robotic Vaccums. Competition always comes close or does 1 thing better but the overall package is always them.

If you actually want a top-notch model right now, I would recommend getting the QX Revo ULTRA (aka QRevo EdgeT) from Costco. It's on sale for $900 until Sept 1st, similar performance, it sacrifies a few features like overcoming barriers 30/40mm->20mm but comes with accessory set and costco warranty.

And please, don't fall for the fake "sales" from Chinese brands. Their so-called sale price is just the regular price dressed up with a red tag. Remember Saros 10R goes for under $500 in China and they can still well profit under that price. Think twice for what you are actually paying for

Thanks for the reference to the QX Revo Ultra; looks like a quality product. FWIW Roborock and most of the high end bots are from Chinese companies and Chinese made so little difference there.

Yea I was eyeing the QX Revo Ultra at Costco too but based on my research, Saros10r has way better obstacle avoidance. QX Revo still tends to run into things which may be a deal breaker for people who want to schedule their cleanings

10R is a better model, but the problem is these robots evolve really fast these days, Qrevo Edge was Vacuum War's #1 pick in January 2025, and then 10R took the #1 spot in February. Now, 10R has already dropped to #5 and Edge is the #7. Personally, I'd prioritize Costo's long-term warranty, since I've heard that companies like Roborock and Dreame have subpar customer support.

Shipping and tariff!!! I tried to buy one directly from China, much cheaper for exactly same stuff, but they use software geo blocking the app, so if machine was sold in China will not work with APP if you try to run it in the states....

There seem to be several kinds of region locks involved:
  • Geo-location lock: the system checks your location, so you'd need to spoof it.
  • IP restriction: it looks like a Chinese IP is required.
  • Voltage: the unit seems configured for 220V only.
Shipping itself isn't crazy expensive — maybe around 100–150 bucks at most.
I also noticed that these companies use different model names in different regions. That makes it harder to figure out which version corresponds to the cheaper ones abroad. For people who know their way around tech, these issues are usually manageable, but for average users it's already a hassle.

Roborock isn't the strictest, though. I've heard some other companies even require a Chinese phone number and a Chinese phone model(meaning, your phone must have been purchased in China). If they detect you're not in China, they'll permanently lock the device. To unlock it, you'd literally have to bring it to a Chinese service center. Pretty cringe, lol.

When I researched robo vacuums, it seemed like a toss up between Roborock, Dreame, and Ecovac as far as best on the market. Who knows?
