How does performance on this compare to a desktop equivalent?

much less, definitely get desktop version of this if you have the space or aren't traveling with it.

Would this be a better value deal compared to something like this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/32665542...2c90630INT

I'm having a hard time making a choice and I really just want the best value for what I'm spending. I'm also open to other recommendations if anybody has them!

Are you gaming? I don't see any obvious spec differences between the one you linked and what Dr. W linked. Main thing is one has OLED and the other IPS, but both based on specs are good panels. OLED will probably look better, but IPS won't have to worry about burn in.

BUT given that you are worried about value, I would HIGHLY recommend avoiding the ACER or MSI offerings. Generally people worried about value aren't replacing their laptops every 12-18 months, in which case the build quality of both brands is not likely to hold up for 3+ years for normal users imo.

IF you can afford it, the Legion Pro 7 over here from Dr. W is a MASSIVE step up in quality compared to either of these ACERs. Spec wise on paper they look similar, but I THINK this ACER is one that can't turn off the DGPU which means battery life with normal internet browsing and stuff is sub 2 hours. The Legion is pretty close to pinnacle for build quality, things feel like a tank but don't weigh as much as one. Should get 6+ hours of battery life etc.

If that is out of your budget I would personally rather get a 5070 from a better brand than a 5070 ti from a brand whose laptops feel flimsy as hell like they want to fall apart.

Thank you for this information. Yes I do plan on gaming and doing productivity type work. I'm not too worried about the burn in problem because even when I do game it's not for extended periods of time. Mainly I'm looking for a modern replacement for my current laptop that I've had for about 5 years now. I actually found that ACER I linked for $1.4k but I do really like the way the Legion looks. I've heard basically nothing but good things about the Legions. I haven't heard much at all about the ACER which is what has me looking around and asking questions. The Legion isn't necessarily out of my budget but for the extra ~$600 I want to make sure the value is there and it's not a waste of that money.

Yes, this model is different from the BB one. This has a bigger battery (76Whr vs 90Whr), full wattage 5070 Ti (115W vs 170W), weighs more 5.07 vs 5.95 lbs), and has an IPS Display (vs OLED on the other).
