Personally, I would much prefer the 18" for $249. Has a more powerful motor and double the included battery for only $30 more.

Thought this would be better for someone who needed something lighter and easier to handle.

Shows out of stock for me. 😞 Good find, though.

I have the 16" and as someone pointed out is great for lighter work. Is safer and less tiring than gas chainsaw, especially for limb trimming and awkward places. Is surprisingly powerful for decent size cuts and chain lasts for ages. I would buy the 20" if it were on sale, to replace my Husqvarna 460.

I bought the 18" version 10 days ago for $399 from Lowes, had them price adjust today and got $161 back. My string trimmer broke so I replaced all my black and decker 20v lawn equipment as it was 12yrs old and batteries weren't holding charge that great. Went EGO Power for everything, so far so good but it's only 10 days.

So I have experience here. The 18" chainsaw is the way to go, but my chain was dull. To sharpen you need a 4.5mm sharpener kit. these do not come in standard chain sharpener kits. Oregon 38278 which is 50% off on Amazon right now.

the reason to go with the 18" is you get the 5ah battery instead of the 2.5ah here. That is worth the extra $30 to me

So I bought the 16" version of this CS. It died very early - maybe 6 cuts. Got a replacement under warranty. I don't know if these electric CS are that good - stalls during cut - loss of power - and for some reason the chain saw lube doesn't dispense well at all - blade gets very hot. I read online others were having issues with the lube not being dispensed.

I hear the 18" version had more torque - is this true?

I bought the 18" blade extension and chain - thinking up upgrading my 16" to 18", but the torque issues are still there.

FWIW, we've had an EGO string trimmer for about 4 years that is still going strong with moderate, home-owner-grade usage. In that time, we've also added a leaf blower, hedge trimmer, and most recently the power head w/edger attachment. Zero problems with any of them in that time.

The 18" is OOS at Lowes around me, but it's $250 on Amazon.
