Low wattage 4080, 185h with minor throttling, mediocore build quality, good panel. For these specs good price point is 1500-1600$.
150W is not low wattage, it's just not max wattage (175W). The 185h cannot throttle here when you're playing on the miniLED panel in this machine on pretty much any game because the 4080 will be throttling well before it due to the high resolution. The build quality isn't that bad either, about the only thing that would better are extremely premium options like the Lenovo Legion 9i or Razer gaming laptops. The only thing I agree with is the price is too much and should be in the $1700-1800 range to be fair given inflation and tariffs and that there's a Intel 200 series with 5080 version that should be at the $2000 price.
Bought 1 and arrived yesterday. Initial Impressions
Pros
-Panel is incredible, highest brightness plugged is blinding, downright uncomfortable
-Sleek, minimalist, and solid laptop, can be a sleeper if you turn off RGB for the logo. Doesn't feel as premium as Blade but matches up on looks and slimness depending on your preferences.
-Speakers on auto mode in Nahimic sound really good for media. No longer reaching for external bluetooth.
-Nice MSI features like max 80% battery charge.
-Hinge design looks real solid, pretty sure there are 4 anchor points on the screen, 2 around each hinge
Cons
-On battery, max brightness of screen is reduced enough that it is no longer impressive. Still can't find the settings to fix this but hopeful this can be fixed.
-Has aggressive raised feet for cooling so not as comfortable as a flat laptop when actually on lap.
-Bottom side pretty warm even when not gaming.
-Fan is either off or 1000+ minimum rpm and it cycles this way even with no real load. That is the same as my dell precision 5550 work laptop. But the minimum fan is a little louder than the dell. But my super thick 10 year old rog strix has barely audible minimum fans.
Overall, pretty happy for the price. Would be perfect if the minimum fan noise were lower/could run at sub 1000 rpm constantly instead of cycling 0-1000+.
