Got one of these about a month ago from the previous deal. Solid humidifier for my toddler's room and good tank capacity. Tank also seems very easy to clean. In for another

Got this a few weeks ago and it works great. The $40 one I bought at the W place could barely put out mist. This one was instant and you can even turn the direction of the mist. Can't believe it costs so little.

Does this require distilled water to operate?

It's ultrasonic, so yes unfortunately you want to use distilled water unless you want to breathe aerosolized minerals, PFAS, etc.

Not required but definitely recommended otherwise it aerosols the minerals and you'll find a white dust forming on your furniture which you're breathing in and is also bad for electronics.

An alternate to constant distilled water is a zero water pitcher. Just bought one for my humidifier because I was sick of running out of distilled. Other pitchers that aren't 'zero TDS' like Brita won't cut it as those don't filter out minerals.

anyone know of a humidifier that's easy to disassemble to clean to prevent mild growth? I had a highly rated Honeywell humidifier but it was a pain to disassemble and get to the fan blades. I used distilled water too

Same here. Seems solid machine. Starts very quickly. Large capacity but seems to take longer to empty overnight than an older humidifier I have that just has the heat element that basically boils the water. It goes thru a gallon per night if I start it around 9pm
This Homvana took longer. I also have a feeling this one uses less power. I might just use 2 of them.
In for another one.

Are areosolized minerals bad for you ?
assuming I put good water in it.

Can you just use boiled water instead of buying distilled water? Isn't that what distilled water is?

There haven't been a lot of studies done on it. In mice it caused a negative cellular response but there wasn't any signs of actual tissue damage. Personally I tend to err on the side of less foreign particulate matter in the lungs is better.

Aside from health effects though, it does cause a 'white dust' to form all around it and not only is it messy but that white dust is particularly bad for electronics.
