While this GPU is slightly more powerful than the 9070 XT, most people are better off going with the 9070 XT because of FSR4 and lower power consumption. This card also has 24GB vram but this isn't really useful for games yet. The only real benefit would be for AI applications. For $700 this is alot more vram than you can get with Nvidia, and ROCm support is pretty good these days.

edit: lol @ the downvotes but yet nobody can explain why I'm wrong. Apparently facts hurt people's feelings.

I have this card, I've been maxxing the settings out on all the games I've tried (Cyberpunk, Harry Potter, Battlefield 6 Beta) with no depth of field or blooming at ultrawide 21:9 3440x1440 with respectable frame rates. I never dipped below 100fps on Battlefield 6 for instance, it ranged from 200 to 150 fps avg. Great card at a decent price.

I have this card. I've water cooled it. The drivers leave me unhappy. I get DX12 errors occasionally when playing Apex Legends. Everything else runs fine. Would like to hear from others about their apex legends experience with this card. (not overclocked as I have the MERC 310 version)
i have no choice. AMD cards are the only cards that place nice with my expensive Samsung TV. Nvidia drivers suck! the second i walk away and lock my pc, the hdmi signal is gone. only a hard shutdown and start up gets me back in.

I was just at the Houston store today. Yesterday the phantom gaming asrock 7900xtx was $699.00. Yesterday that is. Today it is been marked up to $799.00. The sale promotion ended. I did buy this yesterday to do a build that focuses on heavily modded games at 1440p ultrawide. I chose this card over the 9070xt because I wanted the vramm headroom. I know it can't do FSR4 but that did not sway me. I could have gotten a steel legend for the same price. 9070xt. I own a red devil 9070xt and it is an awesome card. I just wanted to build another system and the price of the Asrock phantom gaming 7900xtx was too good of a deal to pass on. I paid $829.00 when I bought my red devil.I have to mention that before I went into the store another shopper came out with the watercooled 5090 astral. We got to talking and I ended up with a whole bunch of radiators and othe watercooled components he was about to put into o storage unit. He also had a Asus Pro Art case p602 with everything included. Offered it to me for $100.00. The water cooled components i got for free. Yesterday was a great day indeed.

If you're able to snag it, this is a crazy good deal! I owned this exact model and even bought it from Microcenter. If you're not concerned with ray tracing then this card will go toe-toe or better with every card except the 40/5090s.
I watched an interesting video on YouTube recently comparing games with ray tracing on vs not. Looks are subjective, but I was surprised that in most games it was equal or detracted from visuals. So from my perspective this is still a worth while purchase and relevant card.
Saying all of that, I do have a 5090 now, but that is because I enjoy min/maxing. The 7900xtx would've lasted me many more years of enjoyable gaming.

Sounds like a hardware issue, only time my AMD gpu has caused my system to lock up was from heavy overclocking.

I use DDU for when games have issues and Nvidia has similar issues.

The number of games that actually benefit from 24gb are slim, that's why I said "for most people". Just because a game allocates more than 16gb doesn't mean it actually needs all of it, and it doesn't mean performance will be better. In some cases yes but again the number of games is incredibly small. Also MOST PEOPLE running a 4k monitor enable FSR because they want higher framerates, and FSR non frame gen reduces vram use. Again 16GB is plenty for MOST PEOPLE (sorry for caps but some people can't read, or like I said some people have emotional reactions when they read something they don't like about a product they own).
and MOST people arent in the market for this tier gpu, the ones who are will be playing games that will make use of the extra vram. And most of the triple AAA games released now uses large amounts of vram because they release the games unoptimized. And future games will be the same except use more vram and be more demanding.

its a stupid thing to reccomend a more expensive, less capable card with less vram for 1 benefit.you admitted the whole thing yourself you just fail to see your own logic.pros of 7900xtx more vram, better performance, better price.overall better product for money 970xt less performance, more cost, less vram, a joke of a card tbh if it was closer to 500 then id agree but its not
They're within a few percent of each other in both performance and power consumption. I'd recommend going with the newer card since it's based on more recent technology and will likely receive support for a longer time. The extra VRAM doesn't really provide an advantage, even in demanding titles, with only a few niche cases such as Counter Strike where it outperforms the 9070XT by a notable margin. That said, I'm not a fan of the current pricing schemes. Personally, I'd suggest holding off until an upgrade is absolutely necessary to send a clear message.

True. I've been seeing > 20GB of VRAM used in my Skyrim with mods since 2020. That's at 4k of course, but still. And yes, I know the difference between VRAM allocated vs. used. You aren't going to regret more VRAM on a card.

People have been saying that since the 30 series. Yet, my 10gb 3080 has had zero issues running everything in the last 5 years.

Man... I'd love to not pay Nvidia tax but the new Oasis VR driver only works for Nvidia. Buying a new VR headset to replace my Odyssey isn't worth it
This card is horrid for vr. Unless something changed recently vr was a big downside. No where close to 3090 performance, and lots of issues at higher frame rates compared to nvidia. I still like the card, but I don't touch it for VR.

Nope, unless you need the ram. Get a 9700xt or 5070ti, newer chipsets and software. Will be better in the future.

If you are talking about maxing settings. cyberpunk can't get over 100fps with 7900xtx with full path tracing on at 1440p
neither can the 5090.....
I've been running Cyberpunk 2077 with a 5090 + 14900K, and it does clear 100 FPS at 1440p with full path tracing on. Benchmarks back this up too — KitGuru measured ~100+ FPS at 1440p RT Ultra, and TechSpot had ~129 FPS with quality upscaling.
The 7900 XTX still gives great value for the price, but the 5090 definitely has the edge in this game. Just thought I'd share since I was curious myself before buying.

I assume this thing kicks the snot out of everything but a 5090, 4090, and a 5080? Great deal
Varies, my sapphire nitro+ benchmarks show 12-15% lower performance than the 5080 tested. For the 1079 I paid for it it's a steal vs the crazy prices for a 5080 from scalpers. Solid card that can definitely go for years and at this price it's unbeatable I would be buy it

This is for in-store pickup only unfortunately. I picked up a slightly used 7900 xtx from eBay last night but don't live close enough to a MicroCenter to cancel my order. Too bad.
Yea but you get warranty on this would I make the drive

Ended up passing on this card several times used on fbmp for $650.

The problem is that in an unusual circumstance this card is severely architecturally dated.

This isn't like 3080s or 4070ti's that are just missing the latest frame gen support but are otherwise still beefy cards.

This gets trounced in RT by the 9070 xt. Additionally amd seems to have improved their broad spectrum game support so that the 9070xt performs well consistently on every game, where as the 7900 xtx simply runs poorly on some games and its a toss up.

The 7900 xtx is dead tech even on the high end it will perform significantly worse as time goes on and more games come out.
I suspect AMD has to do a lot of driver wizardry to keep it competitive and with the 9000 series widely available theres just no incentive to do. The price on these will sink like a stone by next year.

I ended up going for the ASRock 9070xt open box at microcenter, its been coming down to $600-630
