As someone who has shot ~1500+ photos on these cameras.. avoid this one. Not only is the film incredibly expensive, it's also very finnicky and low quality and the cameras will give you nothing but frustration.

I liked Polaroid for the funkyness compared to Instax.. but these cameras are so poor that dark, underexposed photos are not the retro goodness they advertise. Further, the film does not hold up (prior to exposure, or after). Almost all of my photos taken on the new Polaroid film have gone faded and all but disappeared within a couple years (the black and white variety), faded and lost contrast, or just look bad now.

Instax is a much "cleaner" image, but much more consistent and much cheaper. Do yourself a favor and just buy that.

I love(d) Polaroid, and instant film, shooting ~25,000 photos across the different formats.. I did get some awesome photos, but the 'keep' ratio on Polaroid is something like 1 or 2 per pack.

Yea, $50 for 48 pictures from target. I would rather get one of those mini printers.

Kodak mini 2 retro is what I use. I did get mine off of Facebook marketplace for $10 which was a steal for how much I love it. Take photos on my iPhone and print them out and share them with people I cross paths with. I bought a Polaroid book on aliexpress for around $6

I been using HP Sprocket. Photo paper is like $15-$20 for 50pcs. You can edit before you print.

This is exactly right, everyone whining about film cost seems be forgetting that this isn't going to replace a phone camera, it's just for some fun here and there. And the film can be found very reasonably if you know where to look.

They're getting better. The colors are much bolder now and, while they certainly aren't as good as the original Polaroid formula, they last much longer without fading than the older formula from several years ago. They're essentially a small business that has purchased the old Polaroid name and manufacturing tech. As long as they're profitable, they will continue to improve and hopefully someday reach the quality of the original Polaroid company.

They are getting better, but even years ago we all thought the film was fine (only to find out it all faded/disappeared a couple years later).
My biggest gripe with the company is that they turned from wanting to re-create and improve on the film ("Impossible Project") to focusing on crappy hardware that nobody wanted (Polaroid name rebranding). If you've ever received a bad batch of film from them (I received a full case (24 boxes?) of bad film from them!), they'll brush you off like "It's what makes the film so special, enjoy those happy little problems!"

The current films improve at a much, much, much slower pace than we saw years ago, while they're always bringing out new borders, new colored cameras, or collabs. After dropping so much $$ and having it all just disappear, it's hard to stick with them.

The instax printers work - mini, square and wide - and I really like that they actually use instant film to "print" onto, versus an ink cartridge, it gives a much more realistic 'photo' look, but you're still digitally exposing a digital image. If you just want mini prints, yes, the Instax printers will work great for it.

I was wanting the retro/vintage look of analog film with a 'toy camera' feel, so for those the Lomo Automat works great -- it's a fully analog camera, has issues with light leaks, plastic lenses and other distortions, but it gives a much better analog/retro feel (with more consistent results) than something like the Polaroid Now does

I have had a Fuji Instax mini40 for a few years now and it actually gets a lot more use than I thought it would.

Hows this one compare?

I haven't had any problems with film like others
