This would be great for my fire pit lounging area I am planning to build in my backyard this fall right? Is it big enough for a 4 seat sitting area? Enough heat?

My question as well - how does it do with paper? Someone here refuses to use the shredder & burns documents.... just to be a PITA, I amuse myself chasing the embers/charred pages and read the text aloud 🙊

A firepit especially on a deck is not where to cheap out. It all works the same until it fails/rusts and then leaks

Why use paint on the inside? Seems burning that paint off isn't good for s'mores? Is the interior painted area not SS?

Yes you can burn paper and does it well but it's going to sit at the bottom and clog the air flow you will have to keep stoking the fire

19in one from home Depot similar design

Use it to burn those asian ghost/funeral money and items. Birns right away

Can this be placed directly on a wood deck or does it need a protective mat/base?

Definitely want something underneath a fire pit to prevent any burn marks. I use 4 of these which do the job:

I now wear gloves when moving them after getting too many concrete "splinters".

That was my primary concern ~ airflow being blocked by the paper ash....
