Newegg has a great price on a the Intel 14600k CPU, 32GB DDR4 3600mhz RAM, and Asus mATX motherboard for $284 after promo and combo discounts. The CPU also qualifies for Battle Field 6 intel game bundle promotion.

It is a budget DDR4 mATX motherboard but still has most of the features for a budget build like Wifi 6, two M.2 slots, and aRGB headers. The big miss is the lack of usb C ports.

It shouldn't need a BIOS update to run the 14600k. Asus's website shows that all version of its BIOS supports the 14600k.

I don't think you can get any faster for less than $300.

well this app sucks and doesn't allow for proper formatting of comments but basically even if it were an i9 with DDR5 I wouldn't bite on this.TL;DRavoid 13th and 14th gen if you must go with Intel.

"there is no fix short of capping the maximum clock to a value that provides enough timing slack for the circuit to still work correctly. Timing slack becoming smaller as silicon ages is normal, but these processors were running very close to their limits already and degradation was faster than in other designs thus making the problem immediately apparent."

Haha, dude, text is simple for this app.

Also, I made a 12th gen set up and it is a beast!
I wanted long term compatibility which is not found in AMD.
Yes, gaming performance is not the best but I don't game all the time and I can't notice the difference anyway. I'll save some money for a good graphics card instead.

Combo seems dead as the processor and memory are out of stock for me. Price wise I'd say this isn't a bad deal but is in a little bit of an odd spot as it's not the cheapest option but still uses some cheaper components. It would be nicer if it was DDR5 instead.

We did a 12600kf and motherboard deal for my son while back for $200 off of a Woot CPU deal and Newegg MB deal. In that case the DDR4 was helpful because he was reusing his from his system he was upgrading but if you are getting new memory in a bundle DDR5 would be much preferable.

I admit I'm still a little bit leery of the Intel issue as they still seem to be pushing out regular updates with notes related to the stability issues so the 12600 not being impacted was a nice bonus too.

just built a new 14600k system, z709 used asus prime gaming wifi7 board, 16x2 6400 ddr5, some mediocre cooler master rgb tower heatsink lol. Waiting for more parts to come in, like an aio, new case, fans, but this thing absolutely rips. I'm sure the pci 4.0 with full lanes nvme drive helps as well. Only downside is if you run all cpu cores at 100 its heats up and heats up quick! Really impressed with this coming from an AM4 pci 3.0 system. 5070 has been ordered as well.
