i jumped on the 3080 thinkpad years ago (when the cost of desktop graphic card were bananas).
let's just say it is been gathering dust ever since i have a chance to get a GPU with decent price.
I understand there are situations you need a laptop with 4090 card, but consider the alternatives first if you don't need to carry a workstation laptop.

That said, these 13th & 14th Gen Intel processors run hot as hell even within spec due to the dated Intel 7 (10nm) lithography. Meanwhile AMD was using 5nm in the 7000 series and now 4nm in 9000 series, while the newest Intel chips use 3nm - major efficiency improvements across the board. For perspective on how far behind 10nm is, the 3000 series AMD chips released 6+ years ago in 2019 were 7nm (smaller is better).
