Is a single hub sufficient for a townhome?
My hub covers a three floor 4400 sf home with 19 sensors deployed. All tested with a bit of water. Doesn't take much to activate the alarm. These little sensors seem to work great. Easy to setup each detector. Each detector must be paired with the hub. Goes pretty fast when setting them up in bulk. Very good price for this setup.

What type of batteries do these use? The Amazon listing just has "alkaline".

I haven't opened any of my sensors up to confirm but the Properties on the app says "2 AAA" batteries.

Not bad, but these can't really do much if you're away without someone house sitting for you.

So turn off the water when away or get a water shutoff device in addition to this.

This needs a water shut off valve. If you are away it will still flood the house.

does anyone know if I can use this to automate water shutoff when a leak is detected with these?

Got mine off ebay from 2 auctions for a total of $55 for 9 detectors + gateway. If you aren't in a rush then check eBay. Highly recommend them.
Any specific seller?

Nope. It was just one off sellers. I guess it isn't good advice if you are in a rush. I usually just make a search and "heart" that search. Ebay will let me know if there are new listings. GL!

Just experienced our dishwasher last month flooding and ruining our wood engineered flooring, the insurance can't match it so they have to pack us out and replace the entire floor. Its already been a month and we are almost to the point of moving out into an extended stay for a good month and then back. One of these might have saved us all this crap. I thought maybe a small pack would work but after counting the dishwasher, clothes washer, bathroom sinks and kitchen sink and water line behind the fridge I figured this was the best way to go. Thanks OP!
I recently replaced my 20+yr old dishwasher. It was sitting on raw chipboard, only the front was on linoleum.

I put a $20 dishwasher pan in, it's a three sided pan, so if a leak occurs two things will happen.
1. Water will leak out the front onto the linoleum.
2. I will know/see the leak.

I also cut a small access hole from the sink and put a govee water sensor on the pan, with 2xAAA energizer lithium.... these batts last 2x as long.

My $0.02

Great product, EZ set up. saved our asses a couple of times.

Amazing that every time a post for this product pops up someone makes a "claim like this".
I'm in my 50's and had 1 issue over several properties including additional rental properties that we have owned.
1 of the properties dates back to the 1890's that we've had for 30+years
