Have had this controller for several years. Sturdy controller, you can map buttons without the software. Only issue I initially had was buttons were quite easy, maybe too easy, to push down. So I would inadvertently press buttons, especially the outer two buttons on the edge of the controller. But after breaking them in and getting used to it, great controller.
The software allows you to map the function buttons on the bottom row of the controller. But like I said, never downloaded the software.
