Why would you need an anti-rust coating (ceramic) on stainless steel? That's just going to eventually peel off and end up in your food.

Here's an Amazon review of a Vine/free product...

Recent "glowing" reviews look fake AF. These look like junk. Pass.

Remember Amazon is just American Temu. Most of the stuff they sell is straight trash.
This website is full of promoted garbage from Amazon and regurgitated useless crap. These aren't deals.

Calling a sheath a piece of a kit to make it feel like a good deal feels like a slap in the face to my intelligence

Customers should be able to rely on the accuracy of Amazon ads.

Ad says:
"Our knife set boasts a safe ceramic coating, as inert as porcelain. This ensures no rust, no corrosion, and absolutely no flavor transfer to your food."

The instructions that come with the knives directly contradict the ad and indirectly say over and over that these knives are very prone to rust.

Customers are advised that putting them in the dishwasher may increase rust. Instructions say to immediately (hand) wash knives after use and dry thoroughly to prevent rust. Customers are cautioned against humidity to prevent rust.

The handle was advertised as "wood" but it looks and feels like plastic created to look like wood.

The blades are said to be white but they're speckled with orange and they always look a little dirty unless you get close enough to see the weird orange speckles.

When a product is delivered and is clearly not as advertised my rating drops to one star.

These are not as advertised.

The orange speckles make them look rusted, so when they rust, they'll still look brand new!
I don't love this deal, but I bought another Astercook knife for very cheap, and I actually really like it. It has worked well for me so far, but I treat it with kid gloves. It's never been in the dishwasher.

This is fairly standard, unfortunately. It shows up all the time with food containers as well. Just be glad the scissors are counted as one item and not two blades.

I have spent half my life using cheap knives, and the other half actually enjoying food prep. You get what you pay for with knives. If you don't see the words forged or full-tang, just pass folks.

adding to this, ANY knife with a coating is a hard pass IMO.

I miss the days when there was competition amongst deal sites. RIP fat*wallet.

Seriously. That this made front page, and has 14 upvotes with no positive comments (hello bots), really does very little to instill trust in SD.

I think people just have a use for these cheap sets (MIL gifts?).

Perhaps, but cheap junk is easy to find. I come to SD for good deals. Cheap price shouldn't be the only qualifier. Honestly, SD is feeling less like a community and more like a shill.
