America's Test Kitchen has tested this and concluded that end-grain boards are generally less durable and require more maintenance than edge-grain boards. The idea that end-grain boards are better for your knife is also untrue.

pretty good deal for a large teak cutting board so got 2. It should be noted shipping is not free until you hit $75. Even after paying $9 for 2 boards it still seems like a really good deal. I got the wife nodding next to me so it must be good 🙂

Is this any better than similar cutting boards that can be found in Tj Maxx/Marshalls, Ross for cheaper?

About the same, end grain boards are better. If you have a homegoods near you. I would check there.

this is not a $70 cutting board, unfortunately. but it looks nice.

normally $20-30 at major retailers. bought one several years ago at Meijer, and they still have it for around 25.

it's been fine but nothing like a thicker butcher block style board. look at Ironwood or Catskill brand for higher quality without premium cost.

nope. you can find an end grain acacia or teak wood one at home goods or tjm.

I bought this back in December for a similar price. Have been using it periodically for cutting meat. No issues. I apply mineral oil to it every month.

These guys used to have a store near me but (sadly) I think they closed a lot of retail locations a few years.
