As a homeowner, avoid any Maytag products, go with GE or LG
Current Maytag is under the whirlpool tree now. Which is part of GE. My Maytag fridge before the 06 acquisition is still running like a champ. Sucks how things are now.

Maytag is a Whirlpool brand, but it is not part of GE.

As a homeowner, just buy a speed queen set. New or used. Do you really need a "smart" w/d connected to wifi with a digital display? Just more things that can breakdown. There's a reason laundromats use this brand. Replacement parts are readily available and affordable because everything is made in the USA. Repairs are simple diys. Recommended by repairmen and known to last 15-25 yrs on average in commercial settings.

FYI. GE sold their appliance division to the Chinese company, Haier, but oddly enough, Haier did not shift all of the manufacturing to China. In fact, they have expanded their 9 US factories producing GE branded appliances and products across 5 states.

Otoh, Whirlpool is the only appliance corporation still based in the U.S. They own Maytag, Kitchenaid and some other smaller brands and claim to assemble 80% of their appliances here with factories in several different states.

LG is a rebrand of Lucky Goldstar, which started out in the 80s selling Goldstar electronics as a cheaper Korean alternative to the established Japanese brands like Sony and Panasonic. Most of their appliances are assembled in Tennessee.

As an ex-LG dishwasher I would stay away from LG. Both top and bottom racks started rusting after the first year (the dishwasherdishwasher was only used by adults). it was so close to out of warranty I had contac contacted customer service hoping they would recognize that it was just a few weeks out of warranty. instead they gave me a link for racks that cost a little over $400. there's no way I'm paying $400 every 2 years for a new set of racks. to give you some idea how unusual this is we had a GE dishwasher for 10 years with children and did not have rusting. My favorite quote is Never by an appliance from a company that is a TV maker.
