are these that much better than the original WIZ phillips colored recessed lights? all I see is that these have more colorways by using a palet blend and that they use the hue hub.

Using them for 1.5 years with lutron aurora. They work extremely well and reliably. Havent had any issues.
Also easy to install

Have one on one side of my bed tied to a Hue Aurora switch, one on the other side is wired to a Kasa wall switch

Philips Hue likes to be powered on all of the time via switch. Turning lights on/off via a hard wired switch usually resets them to some base setting and, if the switch is off, they can't be controlled remotely.

I have about 16 of these connected through a Zigbee stick with home assistant. If you do it that way the methods of control are nearly endless.

You can set them to revert to last light setting on power on.

These downlights are great. The Lutrons started doing weird stuff after a about 5 years. I have around 12 of the auroras and almost all started acting up around the same time (It's not the battery).
