No you shouldn't but some of the reviews show what is more like a mesh than gauze.

Former EMT and I've used a lot of 4bys and these, if the reviews are to be believed, look like crap

buyer beware of negative reviews. This thing supposedly is so thin that you can see through it.

You can see through all paper. It's just an alcohol swab, not panty liners.

There's no alcohol, these are dry gauze. And you shouldn't be able to see through 8 ply.

I'm curious about the 'non-sterile' in the title. Does that mean they were made in a peanut factory or something?

I mean, it's medline so that's hard to believe. This is what the hospital uses.

I'm curious, what do people use a non sterile gauze for? I believe for wound cleaning or dressing one should use sterile ones to prevent infection. So what's the purpose of these?

Just because they haven't been put through sterilization doesn't mean they're dirty. I used these after having a skin cancer carved out of my leg. My doc had me apply a thin layer of an antibiotic cream, then use one of these folded up in 4 to cover the wound and secured it with tape.

I'm a surgeon and have absolutely used these in clinic for wound dressings. They are thin as hell if you unfold them but as packaged, they're just fine as a wound covering, especially when folded in half or in quarters.. Alternatively, we unfold them and use them as "fluffs" for wound packing.

I'm buying a pack of these since I used up the pack I stole from work after got used up on wound care for myself and one of my pets.

I haven't used this specific item but have bought gauze like this in the past. It's normal for these to be labeled 'non-sterile' but that doesn't mean they arent clean. However they are packed together basically in bulk and the packaging itself is not absolutely sealed from air. Products that you buy as 'sterile' will typically be individually packaged and sealed and the price per piece will be much higher.

This is so much worse than 'see through it'. The product is absolute garbage. Shouldn't even be sold. There is legit no proper use for these pads. Even if you use 3-4 of them stacked, you still just have 4 layers of useless and awful on. AVOID EVEN FOR $3

For anyone who missed this... I have had 4 surgeries this year, so I have WAY too much experience with various brands and varieties of gauze... This is so much worse than 'see through it'. The product is absolute garbage. Shouldn't even be sold. There is legit no proper use for these pads. Even if you use 3-4 of them stacked, you still just have 4 layers of useless and awful on. AVOID EVEN FOR $3 - It is so porous it doesn't;t even deserve the term mesh. It is more like a series of weak strings sort of woven loosely together.
