please don't be an idiot like me and buy this only to find out there are different oil filter removal tools for for different cars. I ended up having to go to Walmart to get the one I needed for our Camry which was totally different from this.

Yes, verify if your vehicle uses a canister or cartridge oil filter first. This tool is for use on canister oil filters.

Alternatively, you could get a strap wrench which will work on (virtually) anything

why does it always bloody red for the used oil coming out of the toyota engine?

This [harborfreight.com] will work in most situations. It's $7 more (oh noes!) but it'll last you forever unless you lose it.

I used this type of pliers for an 1 1/4" PVC union for my well pump. Lowe's sells the same tool for about $21. Walmart offers the same pliers for $7. This is a good price if you need one for oil filters or PVC unions. I left the pliers on a hook near the pump so I wouldn't need to hunt for them when/if needed again.
