Sensify/MotionAware is the killer feature of this new hub for me. I wonder if the current hub can support it.

They most likely won't let the old hubs get this new technology. Their new app update says MotionAware is exclusive to the new Hue Bridge Pro.

It was for a phone I got case that fell apart after the return date. They couldn't give me my money back directly, so they just gave me credit instead. The great thing about Courtesy Credit is that it's pre-tax instead of post-tax (meaning it'd reduce your sales tax amount by applying before tax is calculated).

Will this somehow work as a hub for aqara stuff or other related products? I am trying to justify this. I want to add aqara water detectors and stuff and that hub is $100 anyway

Only the new hub, and at least 3 hue lights per room.

man I've been waiting for this for years, but shelling out $100 does kind of seem like a lot. I have whole home Philips hue, and feel like the ad responsiveness alone would be great. I'm really on the fence with this.

is there a certain distance they need to be apart? the 3 bulbs or whatever? I unfortunately have many rooms with just 2 XD

Fair warning, this isn't working with Home Assistant yet. So I'd hold off a while if that applies to you. This isn't anyone's fault, just normal early adopter stuff.

Thank you. Yeah PSA was the intention more so for early adopters and Hue power users like myself. For those that don't need all these features right now (or care about them), I'd honestly wait until this gets much cheaper like the V2.1 has over the years lol. Who knows how long that'll be though with tariffs, etc. influencing price shifts up and down unpredictably.

Damn, I'll have to migrate wait in that case. Maybe it's still too early? I know there was that one guy that got it for review testing purposes last month, but is there anyone else in the wild that already tried it?

I just can't thing of a scenario besides my garage where I'd want my lights to trigger off motion. At least consistently...

Uhh turns out that "Motion Aware" requires a PAID SUBSCRIPTION. It isn't clear if it is $40/year or $10/year (contradictory stuff from the Hue team), but in either case, pass from me. I don't have any WiFi stuff I'd use this with, and the only other major pull requires a paid sub, so I'm out for now.

Great post OP, thumbs up.

But can someone please explain the purpose of a hub. I currently have 40+ lights, echos, etc working well on the Alexa ecosystem thru 3 eero 5 pro routers. The only thing I've noticed so far is that I do not have full access to the wiz lighting scenes via Alexa. I know at some point I will have to update and I think Philips has some cool stuff but I've always gravitated to WiFi with no issues so far.

you only need to pay if you want it to send notification when its triggered
