Would this be good to use as a primary drive for a laptop?

Does it have dram cache?

There a few reviews, some talk about them failing within a year.

Probably YMTC TLC with a Tenafe TC2200 controler. My similar Netac drive performance wise this is competitive with my newish MP44L on 3DMark Storage, so this is probably a reasonably well preforming mid-range DRAM-less drive and much better than the cheap QLC drives which have popped up under $100. Not nearly as fast as my SN770.

I think the issue is that they use components that failed QA or borderline.
