Roughly 25 million Americans, soon to be more. That's not even taking into consideration that many more have insurance that won't pay for anything outside of routine care.

Most of us have insurance that will not cover a wheelchair for this price. I have a stable job with excellent health coverage and I still pay thousands out of pocket each year. There are people whose entire career consists solely of denying coverage to paying customers.

This is great deal. Rented one for DH for several weeks after an injury. Model was recommended by PT.

Did you mean to say catastrophic care not routine? Because lots of high deductible catastrophic only policies will be flooding the country after ACA is gutted.

My wife and i have UMR health insurance and if we needed a wheelchair I would bet Mario's hat this is way way less than if i tried to use insurance to buy it. Source we tried to buy a leg brace. The only authorized place was about 80 miles away and the cost was %275 what the one in my local Walmart cost. My guess is Walmart wouldn't mark it up if i purchased it using insurance so when i pay for it i pay way more than the insurance company. (fun fact some insurance companies pay as little as %33 of your hospital bill, source I work at a hospital) .

They gotta approve it which can take a while. Meanwhile, you gotta get grandma to her doctor's appointment and around the house.

When my Father needed a wheelchair his doctor wrote a prescription and we went to a pharmacy that had medical supplies and they gave him one, I still have it.

I struggle to think which houses are wheelchair accessible. most have at least a step or two. then you have walkways which generally aren't wide enough. unless you live in a huge house
