personally I think the real value if you're a pixel fan is with a refurbished pixel 8 or Pixel 8 pro. a renewed pixel 8 on Amazon is between 200 and 250 and you can find the pixel 8 pro for under 350 sometimes renewed. it won't have 100% battery but you'll get the telephoto camera if you get the pro model. get 5 years of updates. and the money you're saving if you get the regular pixel 8, you could easily just get a new battery. frankly I prefer the ergonomics on the pixel 8 which is a little more rounded. the flat edges sell better because of the association with premium iPhones but they're pretty unpleasant to hold relative to the more soft ergonomic back curve that the pixel 6, 7 and 8 all had.

yeah agreed, I just cancelled my order. I have a feeling you are right. Maybe not 199 but $250-300 seems highly possible. Since this is only a backup phone for me. I dont really care.

Pixel 10 sucks though, got rid of the sim card slot for no reason.

i've been clicking through the steps and it's 60 continuous days to unlock; cheapest plan is $25/mo = 339 + 50 = 389 for an unlocked phone after 2 mo

No, cheapest plan is about $4.5/month. Go to "Low Data" plans, switch to Monthly, then choose "Custom Plan". Add 50mb of data or something and the total will be about $4.50 after fees.

it was 250 in June apparently. pixels are not really that popular. once the new iPhone hits tomorrow, all the isheep will run that way and the pixel prices dropping

I hope so. I was tracking the $250 deal but that sold out immediately. But I'd be happy for $350 without playing games.

It sold out immediately in second time b/c they had only 100 or so units. Before that they had the same offer for days. Once it post in slickdeals people tend to buy thinking its a good deal.

Their website kept on crashing for 40 minutes so it wasn't sold out immediately. They ended up selling 1,400+ units which was more than they allocated for the deal. The CEO honored all sales at the $250 price. I was lucky enough to score one. It recently unlocked, 60 days after I received it. I was already a US Mobile customer so just put the SIM card in from my old phone.

I'd rather not port my number. I think what I want to do is unlock the phone using the xda method, keep my current plan with tello, and use the dual sim feature to fulfill the 60 day US Mobile requirement. Cheapest US Mobile plan is 50 texts - 0 talk - 0 data for (i think it was) $4.50/mo.

Not sure if all of the above will work
