I like to think I'm pretty tool savvy, but maybe I'm just dumb because I had to watch a video to understand what this Spider-Man ratcheting knife is and how it works.

Just used this last week to cut through 1/4 inch insulation, my pocket knife couldn't get the job done without putting tons of pressure on it. The ratcheting saved the day.

I guzzle the gucci tools Kool-Aid pretty hard, but the $38 (already reduced pricing) replacement proprietary blade pushes this over the edge. I dont mind the premium as much if i can tell myself it'll last me, but blades are a wear item and I dont think sharpening that thing is an option.

TLDR: This is a knife used for stripping cable (particularly thick jackets). Has a rounded tip rather than sharp point to protect the inner conductors when removing the outer sheath. The shape is convenient for stripping both length-wise and cross-wise of the cable. Has sharp edges for stripping by pushing and by pulling. The blade can be locked in a couple different angles. The knife blade can be "ratcheted" -- inchworm-rocking-motion for controlled cuts. It's got a bold red + blue design that will capture the attention and admiration of all who behold it in action.

A common mistake made with these German tools is the pronunciation.
This is called a Ka-nife.

I think if you are regularly working with cables the size of your wrist you can handle paying for proprietary blades.

Also this isn't like a utility knife where you are expected to frequently replace the blade. This is more like buying a pocket knife (that happens to have a replaceable blade).

In fact the tool that this is an upgrade to (or at least an easier alternative for non-live wires) doesn't even have a replaceable blade: https://www.amazon.com/Knipex-98-...ECGJY?th=1
You either sharpen it or buy a new one.
