I have an older version of the surge, and it is an excellent backpack. For this price, however, I wouldn't consider it a slick deal

I have a Surge model backpack that I bought over 20 years ago and just last week bought one of the newer models. It's a little different for sure, but it still fits both of my laptops inside without issue, along with all of the other items that I edc.
Too bad the color I chose isn't on sale, but for nearly $42 off the price, it's a good deal and if I wanted black, I would be all over this.

*Edit: nothing happened with the other backpack either. I just wanted a different color now. I still plan on using the older one for different needs. It truly is the best backpack I have ever owned. If you need some help deciding on a bag, look at https://www.packhacker.com/travel-gear/

Router is a pretty big jump up in terms of size. Surge fits the right amount I would say. Compare the size in Liters to your current bag.

I think that all depends on what all you want to put in it and how big you are. I've had my router for over a year and love it. I'm about 220/6' and I carry a tool kit, laptop, and various other items.

thanks

i have a surge from over 10 years or so ago, with the awkward outer pocket that can fully unzip

i guess that would be the appropriate size. at least they fixed the pockets and made the water bottle pockets larger

i did not think about that extra size, looks like the surge would be ok for my daily carry. i take my laptop to/from work but have it locked at the desk during the week

so maybe no point for the extra size of the router

I can't speak to the new surge, but I have a 2015 year surge backpack and use it daily. It's still in good condition, although the water resistant exterior has probably worn off by now. That's not an issue with the bag but more the time I've used it.

does the black color often go on sale for lower than $97?
