Than add in the fact that alot of people complain about the mainstay lids..
Personally this is one of those cases where i think the big name (Ball)is a big name for a reason. (Better Quality)

So far, they have worked well. I do not use them for canning but for storing things in the freezer & maybe very rarely put one in the microwave for a minute. I have only one jar that has an issue. It has a small internal crack near the mouth I just noticed recently, but you can't feel it on the inside or outside of the jar. The 8 jars/lids have been in constant rotation - freezer/refrigerator/dishwasher.
