From what I hear, this game never really got off easy mode. It was on last month's humble choice and I thought about it but the comments regarding the game were fairly critical.

This sounds like a humble brag post. If my information is accurate, this game is similarly difficult to a Devil May Cry game on the hardest difficult.

Bought this last month and have 3-4 hours of playtime so far. Story is great and the artwork and gameplay are unique and fun. Only downside so far is this game doesn't run well on the switch. Lags a bit when you get to sections that have more 3d graphics vs the 2d sections.

Nintendo has the digital version on sale for $11.99 thru Sept 11th. Best price ever according to Deku.

Performance is supposed to be better on the Switch 2 and the gameplay and art style is quite interesting. Worth a flyer, for me at least.

I was really excited when this game was announced, picked it up on sale on ps5 a few months later (after they added the more streamlined story mode). I was bored throughout most of the game. The cool animation couldn't carry it for me. The last fight was cool at least...but honestly the rest of it felt like a slog.

Quick clarification, it's actually part of this month's (September's) Humble Choice so that's still an option for those interested.

With that said, yeah, it didn't seem to live up to its hype. Beautiful artwork and style, but fairly rudimentary gameplay. With that said, I do look forward to playing it with my kids when I eventually snag the Humble Choice.
