received this one as a gift and within a year and a half had a swollen battery. Not sure if that is super-rare, based on other reviews, but I wouldn't buy again on this basis.

I personally think putting solar panels on a battery bank is incredibly naive. That additional heat of leaving it in the sun is going to kill those cells

Is this really 40000mah or one of these temu batteries that's really more like 14000 but places a fake number so you buy it?
It's without a doubt an inflated number. Unfortunately, there is no governing body that forces battery companies to tell the truth about capacity. It's been the same way for decades in the audio amplifier industry. They can lie all they want about how much power they produce. It will catch up to them in the long run and ultimately ruin their brand image, but they target the masses of naive buyers who don't care about brand image. There are enough people who see bigger numbers and think 90,000 is bigger than 20,000 so it must be better. Until the consumer gets smart enough to not fall for these lies, companies will continue to do it. Its been like this for as long as I can remember. Smaller usb battery packs like this product and amplifiers are probably the 2 worst offenders when it comes to exaggerated or just flat out lying numbers.

The terms Lipo and cells are 2 different things. A battery can be both. A 'cell' just refers to the smallest unit of a battery/battery pack and 'Lipo' refers to its Lithium and polymer electrolyte makeup. Some other popular battery chemistry makeups other than Lithium Polymer (LiPo) are Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePo4), nickel-metal hydride (NiMH), nickel cadium (NiCd), Lithium Ion (Li-on), Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC), Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminum Oxide (NCA) and so forth. I hope this makes sense.

Only way to use this and have it last would be to never charge above 80%, never drain below 20% - and ONLY solar charge when the zombie apocalypse hits.

In addition, I am sure I could NOT find one place on the product page that would indicate it was so that should not come as a surprise.
