I'm not going to review bomb here but wanted to add that as I previously mentioned I received a multiple defective bike with front brakes broke in half, rear wheel likely bent so the motor does not work well and whines and of course then the rear brakes scape upon each rotation making this bike junk and the sellers solution was a $30 refund and then I brought the situation back up to Aliexpress since that was ridiculous and their chat seemed very favorable to me in their response and apology(probably AI I guess now). So now Aliexpress responded with an offer of $47 refund!?!

Buyer beware!!! Yes, great deal if everything is perfect but complete nightmare if defective. Dang, I have avoided buying from this place for this very reason and the first time i do this happens.🤬

In general, are you utilizing ebike as a motored bike or do you really ride it as a bicycle? Is it too heavy to ride it as a bike?

I feel it's much too heavy to ride unassisted for very long as it's 70 pounds. I feel it's like the classic red two stroke pedal scooter us old guys had as a kid only electric.

OK, now here's the question we have been dancing around:

1. Can the battery be purchased separately?
2. Can I upgrade the battery to add more energy?
3. Can I easily find out which cells are bad and replace just those cells (and do I need to purchase a spot welder?)
Yes to all three!
1 Silverfish battery style is what your looking for...make sure it has the same discharge ports on the bottom of the battery...and verify the pins on the battery once you get it, that they are the same polarity as the original, or you have to swap wires.
2. Yes they have options up to 100ah...but the real ones (not scams) are big bucks!!

Why don't you get a generic style and bag for the back rack, or get a Hailong style ( bolts onto drink holder holes) then add a battery leveler/combiner + a power on/off switch to just add capacity?
(This is what I did..it's the cheapest per ah. 20 Ah battery + bag+ 40A combiner + power switch + extender cable was on sale 140 bucks to double almost triple capacity)

3. Bad cells can be replaced, but a spot welder and huge shrink wrap is needed to reassemble.

It's apparent you really love these ebikes and Thankful you're willing to share with us worship

Could you give us an idea of the price for these 48v batteries vs certain Ah?

and have had the need to repair any of them (and for how many years have you been using them)?

Thats the hitch, the more you spend...the better more long lasting the batteries are. The good ones average about 1000 to 2000 charges. The cheap ones about 500 is the consensus. The stock battery is a cheap generic...and runs about 100 to 125 bucks. The one I added was a good generic 20 ah for 100. But it needs a bag and mounts on a rack...I am getting a 30 ah same style for my 26 inch bike for 170.
Batteries are arguably the most expensive part of the ebike. There is a 100 ah silverfish on aliexpress that is over 1k because it's high capacity/drain for those motorcycle type ebikes.
If it's reliability and longevity you want look for Samsung or LG cells.. but you will pay big bucks.
.
I did have to repair one, but it was my fault.....I put a grommet on my bag for the wires...and pushed the charging connector too hard through the grommet and broke the wires off the charging connector. I resoldered and double.shrink wrapped it to fix it

So Aliexpress isn't allowing you to return the bike for free and get a full refund?

Battery may last 10K miles under ideal condition, but you'll need to replace the rear tire around 1.5K or sooner if cruising above 15 mph. $50 for tire and +$20 for labor. Most owners are not fit to ride without battery assist.
Buy if you enjoy riding a few miles on a bike without physical effort. Avoid if you don't want to spend the time and $ to replace tire/repair puncture. Basic maintenance may be an issue if the local bike shop does not service ebike.

Buy with CC and file a dispute charge with the CC company. Just make sure that the seller does not have a clause regarding return fee at the time of purchase. Avoid debit card transaction.

This might work if you never plan to purchase from ali ever again.

I purchase $1k - $2k a year from ali, so this nuclear option won't work for me and I would imagine, for a lot of us on slickdeals.

Just last week I bought two optical switches for $20 (same switches are $60 on Amazon) and 2.5GbE USB-C adapters for $4 (same adapters are $16-$20 on Amazon), so I'm not risking my account.

He raised a really important and valid point about the wheels not being easily replaceable if they are damaged and you just keep telling him to learn how to rebuild wheels. Ridiculous. 99% of consumers are not going to know how to repair a wheel properly.

and the reason why no shop will touch these things is because it is a huge liability. you bring one of these cheapo chinese ebikes in there and they true the front wheel, next thing you know you are get into an accident at 30mph and now the shop is being sued for faulty repairs. I wouldnt true or repair one of these either.
You're the 99% without the skill to build a bicycle wheel, but others may benefit with tips from an experienced wheelbuilder. Simply brilliant Sherlock!

Sue a bike shop for faulty repair when there is physical evidence of a 30 mph impact. Must be a desperate starving lawyer since the police report will blow the case out of the water.

Ali/BABA is a big B2B company. If you have proof of the defect, then you should not be stuck with a 70 lbs door stop. BABA is not going to jeopardize the business by punishing good customers. Most companies will put you on the blacklist only if you have multiple CC disputes within a short period of time.

I've bought items from BABA. Received one defect. Seller re-send a replacement. It's a decent company with very good prices if you do your homework before purchase. I would avoid purchasing expensive electronics or critical auto parts.

Just got mine and noticed the front wheel seems misaligned, it sits too close on one side and rubs against the fork. Anyone else run into this issue?
